League of Women Voters to meet - The League of Women Voters Crawford County Unit will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m. in the Nature Center (next to the American Legion). The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Lovells Satellite Meal to be held - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Lovells Satellite Meal on Friday, Jan. 19, at 12 p.m. at the Lovells Township Hall. The lunch includes breaded cod, red skin potatoes, Prince Charles veggie blend, and a fresh apple. Lunch is open to the public. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over and a $5 cost for those under 60. Munson Home Health will provide blood pressure and sugar checks and Bingo will be played following the meal. Call (989) 348-7123 for a reservation. Lovells Township Hall is located at 8405 Twin Bridge Road. 
Frederic to host euchre event - The Frederic Township Hall, located at 6470 Manistee, will host a euchre event on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. Sign up starts at 1 p.m. Entry fee is $20. No need to bring a partner. All proceeds will benefit Frederic Township parks and recreation.
COA to host Musical Masterpiece event - Join the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 6 p.m. when drawing paper, colored pencils, and music will be used to create a Musical Masterpiece. There will be dessert and prizes and fun. Lasagna dinner is slated for 5 p.m. The cost of dinner is $5 for those under 60 and a suggested $3 donation for those 60 and over. Garden Club to skip January meeting - The Kirtland Garden Club will not be meeting on Jan. 15. The Houghton Lake Library will be closed for Martin Luther King Day. The monthly meetings of the Kirtland Garden Club will resume in February. On Feb. 19 at 1:30 p.m. the speaker will be Sarah Rautio from the MSU Extension Service in Iosco County. Rautio will be touching on the questions and concerns that members submitted at a previous meeting. 
Winter Picnic to be held at Senior Center - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center’s Winter Picnic on Thursday, Jan. 18, from 4-6 p.m. The Senior Center will be serving BBQ ribs, broasted potatoes, country baked beans, watermelon, and baked apple pie. The suggested donation for seniors 60 and over is $3. The price for those under 60 is $5. Dinner is open to the public and no reservations are required. Trout Unlimited offers fly tying classes - The Mason Griffith Founders Chapter of Trout Unlimited will host fly tying classes at the Old AuSable Fly Shop starting on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 6 p.m. The cost of the eight-week class is $25 (includes all equipment and materials). Veterans can get ride to VA hospital - Veterans living in Crawford, Kalkaska, Roscommon, Otsego, or Ogemaw counties can arrange to be picked up along the I-75 corridor for a ride to the VA hospital by a Disabled American Veterans van.
