Senior Center to host Valentine’s Day dinner - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center’s Valentine’s Day Dinner on Thursday, February 13, from 4-6 p.m. Dinner will include prime rib, twice baked potato, balsamic glazed French green beans, ramen noodle salad, and raspberry strudel. The suggested donation for seniors 60 and over is $3.50. The price for those under 60 is $5.75. Dinner is open to the public. The Senior Center is located at 308 Lawndale Street. Wild Game Dinner to be held - The Res Life 7th Annual Wild Game Dinner will be held on Friday, February 21, at 6 p.m. Ticket price is $10 per adult. Kids (17 and under) can attend for no cost. Meal is free. Ticket proceeds go toward prizes. There are 130 tickets available. Contact the church office at (989) 348-1000 for tickets. Res Life Church is located on M-72 two miles east of Burger King. If you plan to attend, please purchase tickets by February 19. Tickets will be available at the door if there are any left. Event is open to all.
Snowmobile Fun Run to benefit United Way - The 16th Annual Snowmobile Fun Run to benefit Crawford County United Way will be held Saturday, February 8. Registration is from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Rolling Oak Brewing Company on Norway Street in Grayling. Registration is $25 per person and includes lunch, dinner at Tinker’s Junction and a T-shirt (while supplies last). You don’t have to ride a snowmobile to participate. American Legion Auxiliary to meet - The American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the American Legion on Tuesday, February 11. The group meets once a month on the second Tuesday of each month.
Coffee hour for veterans to be held - The Crawford County Veteran’s Service Office will be hosting a coffee hour on the second Thursday of each month. The next meeting will take place at the American Legion Post #106 in Grayling on February 13 from 9-10 a.m. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided free of charge. This is an event for veterans to meet and talk with each other. It will be held in a social setting with no formal speeches or agenda. TEFAP food distribution to be held - The quarterly TEFAP food distribution will be held on Monday, February 10, at the American Legion (106 James Street) from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please bring identification showing current address. Line up at the back door. Bring someone to help carry your bags if necessary.
Artisan Village to host concert - Dharma Records and the Artisan Village will bring back the Michigan Man Mike Ridley along with The Red Accordion on Thursday, February 13, from 7-9 p.m. The Artisan Village is located at 219 Michigan Avenue. MSU Extension seeks volunteers - Crawford County MSU Extension is holding a one-day workshop for adults who are looking to add a new interest or hobby to their life. MSU Extension is seeking adults who have hobbies that contribute to their overall life satisfaction who would be willing to share about their hobby with others. The event will be held at Kirtland Community College Grayling Campus on Saturday, March 14, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Participate in a Hobby Round Robin and share about your hobby. (How you got into it? How much time do you spend on it? Were there costs to get started?) Workshop attendees will rotate in short intervals for quick chats with the volunteer about their hobby. Snowshoe hike to be held at Wakeley Lake - HeadWaters Land Conservancy will conduct a snowshoe hike at Wakeley Lake on Saturday, February 8, at 10 a.m. Enjoy a one-mile snowshoe hike through the Wakeley Lake area led by Celeste Lafleur, AmeriCorps Member, Outreach Coordinator for the Forest Service. Entrance to the area is located on M-72 East about one mile east of Chase Bridge Road. There is a $5 cash Forest Service Access Fee per vehicle. Free use of snowshoes for all participants. Baby to Toddler Closet seeks donations - Crawford County Baby to Toddler Closet needs clothes, underwear, socks, and shoes (for boys and girls) in sizes 2T, 3T, 4T, and 5 in clean and nearly new condition. Or, donors could provide a small monetary donation to the Baby to Toddler Closet for those items, or provide Spartan Family Fare Direct Dollar Receipts to the program. There are Direct Dollar receipt boxes at Tip’n The Mitten, Michelson United Methodist, Free Methodist, St. Francis Church, Just Another Copy Shop, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Grayling Moose Lodge, or you may contact Rose Mary Nelson at (989) 348-2985. Or, you can drop them off at the Baby to Toddler Closet at the Michelson United Methodist Church (400 Michigan Avenue, Grayling) or mail them to this address. The Baby to Toddler Closet is located in the basement of the Michelson United Methodist Church. It is open on the first and third Thursdays of the month 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. with last customer at 5:30 p.m.
