Lovells Satellite Meal slated for Feb. 16 - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Lovells Satellite Meal on Friday, Feb. 16, at 12 p.m. at the Lovells Township Hall. The lunch includes breaded skinless chicken breast, baked sweet potato, mixed vegetables, and applesauce. Lunch is open to the public. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over and a $5 cost for those under 60. Munson Home Health will provide blood pressure and sugar checks and Bingo will be played following the meal. Call (989) 348-7123 for a reservation. Wild Game Dinner to be held - Everyone is invited to the 5th Annual Res Life Wild Game Dinner to be held Saturday, Feb. 17, at 5 p.m. at Resurrection Life Center (2640 W. M-72, Grayling). Besides the wild game, side dishes, salads, and desserts, guests will have a chance to win door prizes. Also, special guest speakers Brian and Shilo Kanouse from Cadillac will share their hunting and fishing stories. Fun Run to benefit Crawford United Way - Snowmobilers and supporters are needed for the 14th Annual Snowmobile Fun Run to benefit Crawford County United Way on Feb. 10, with registration and brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Swamp II in Frederic, traveling to Mama Leone’s in Gaylord, Porter Haus in Gaylord, and The Keg Bar in Waters. Entry Donation is $25 per person and includes brunch, T-shirt (while supplies last) and Mardi Gras dinner with prize giveaway at Tinker’s Junction at 8 p.m. This is a family friendly event and you don’t have to be a sledder to participate. Senior Center to host Valentine’s Day Dinner - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center’s Valentine’s Day Dinner on Thursday, Feb. 15, from 4-6 p.m. The Senior Center will be serving prime rib, garlic roasted red skins, glazed baby carrots, mojito fruit salad, and red velvet cake. The suggested donation for seniors 60 and over is $3. The price for those under 60 is $5. Dinner is open to the public. The Senior Center is located at 308 Lawndale Street in Grayling. Free divorce clinic offered - The 46th Judicial Circuit Bar Association, Legal Services of Northern Michigan, and Community Mediation Services will conduct a free divorce clinic at the Crawford County Courthouse at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15. Legal Services staff attorneys will provide classroom instruction and volunteer attorneys will be available for private consultations. All forms will be supplied free to participants. Celebrate Mardi Gras at Senior Center - Everyone is invited to celebrate Mardi Gras at the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m. Join COA for some New Orleans fun and receive your own beads and masks to celebrate the night. Who will be the next King and Queen? Who will win the grand prize? There will even be a parade led by a jester. Refreshments will be provided. Enjoy a chicken fettuccini alfredo dinner served from 4:30-5:30 pm. The cost of dinner is $5 for those under 60 and a suggested $3 donation for those 60 and over. Frederic to host euchre event - The Frederic Township Hall, located at 6470 Manistee, will host a euchre event on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m. Sign up starts at 1 p.m. Entry fee is $20. No need to bring a partner. All proceeds will benefit Frederic Township parks and recreation.
DHHS assistance appointments available - DHHS assistance appointments are available at the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center. Diane Howland, Eligibility Specialist from Crawford County Department of Health and Human Services, will be at the Senior Center on Wednesday, Feb. 14, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. to take appointments. Howland will be available to meet with individuals to explain DHHS Assistance Programs, answer questions regarding eligibility requirements, case specific questions, and also take applications for assistance. Half hour appointments are available by calling (989) 348-7123. The Senior Center is located at 308 Lawndale Street.
Snowshoe hike to be held at Wakeley Lake - The Headwaters Land Conservancy will conduct a snowshoe hike event at Wakeley Lake on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 10 a.m. Entrance to Wakeley Lake is located on M-72 east of Grayling about one mile east of Chase Bridge Road). There is a $5 cash Forest Service Access Fee but the event offers free use of snowshoes. To reserve a spot, call Headwaters at (989) 731-0573.
Bowling event to feature prize auction - Project Graduation’s Lovers’ Lane Bowling event on Saturday, Feb. 10, at Legion Lanes will feature a silent auction with a variety of prizes. People can bid on items from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Legion Lanes (it is not required to have a bowling ticket to participate) and online at Yvonne Schreiber’s Facebook page. Prizes include gift certificates and packages for local dining, camping, massage, and other items. All proceeds benefit Project Graduation 2018.
