Forum to be held regarding soccer fields - Crawford County will host a public informational forum on Thursday, March 8, at 7 p.m. at the Crawford County Building. The purpose of the forum is to explain the future of the Crawford Ausable Soccer Association field expansion and gather opinions and suggestions regarding the project. Crawford County is intending to apply for a grant on behalf of the Crawford Ausable Soccer Association for the purposes of building an additional soccer field at the Crawford County Sportsplex.  
Church to host World Day of Prayer - St. Francis Episcopal Church is hosting this year’s “World Day of Prayer” at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 2. This year’s country to be honored is Suriname and the theme is caring for our world. St. Francis is located between Wimpy’s and the Grayling Township Offices on M-72.  The program is open to all.
Coffee hour for veterans to be held - The Crawford County Veteran’s Service Office will host a coffee hour on the second Thursday of every month. The first meeting will take place at the American Legion Post #106 in Grayling on Thursday, March 8, from 9-10 a.m. Coffee, tea, and doughnuts will be provided free of charge. This is an event for veterans to meet and talk with each other. It will be a social setting with no formal speeches or agenda. All veterans welcome whether they served in peacetime or wartime. COA to conduct Frederic Satellite Meal - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Frederic Satellite Meal on Friday, March 9, at 12 p.m. at the Frederic Township Hall. The lunch includes Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, sugar snap peas, and peaches. Lunch is open to the public. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over and a $5 cost for those under 60. Munson Home Health will provide blood pressure and sugar checks and Bingo will be played following the meal. Call (989) 348-7123 for a reservation. The Frederic Township Hall is located at 6470 Manistee. 
Register for Little League at GMS - Little League registration will be held on Saturday, March 3, at Grayling Middle School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program is for boys and girls from ages 4 to 14. If this is your child’s first time participating, you must bring a birth certificate.
League of Women’s Voters to meet - The League of Women Voters Crawford County Unit will meet on Tuesday, March 20, at 7 p.m. in the Nature Center (next to the American Legion). The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Veterans can get ride to VA hospital - Veterans living in Crawford, Kalkaska, Roscommon, Otsego, or Ogemaw counties can arrange to be picked up along the I-75 corridor for a ride to the VA hospital by a Disabled American Veterans van. Frederic to host euchre event - The Frederic Township Hall, located at 6470 Manistee, will host a euchre event on Saturday, March 10, at 2 p.m. Sign up starts at 1 p.m. Entry fee is $20. No need to bring a partner. All proceeds will benefit Frederic Township parks and recreation. 
Hawaiian Party to be held at Senior Center - You are invited to celebrate the warmth of the tropics at a Hawaiian Party to be held at the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center on Tuesday, March 6, at 6 p.m. Take some time out from the cold weather and dream of gorgeous beaches, with turquoise water and fine sand between your toes. Everyone will receive flower leis to wear while they enjoy games and refreshments. Come early for a western omelet dinner served from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The cost of dinner is $5 for those under 60 and a suggested $3 donation for those 60 and over. American Legion Auxiliary to meet - The American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the American Legion on Tuesday, March 8. The group meets once a month on the second Tuesday of each month.
Blood Drive to be held - An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held on Wednesday, March 7, from noon to 6 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Church (707 Spruce Street). Call Teena Kehr at (989) 915-9444 if you have questions.
Senior Center event to honor Bernie Fowler - The Commission on Aging and Senior Center will welcome Stuart Fowler on Thursday, March 8, at 5:30 p.m. He will honor his father, Bernie Fowler, the civil servant, the fisherman, the river guide, and the paddler. From his days in the US Marines, to his love of flying, to the running of his AuSable Resort, to the various boards he served on and finally his work and passion with the AuSable River Canoe Marathon, it will be a night of remembering one of the greats. This presentation is free of charge and everyone is welcome. A cranberry chicken dinner will be served from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Cost of the dinner is $5 for those under 60 with a suggested donation of $3 for anyone over 60 years of age.
