Sign up for Smart911 - The Crawford County Commission on Aging is offering another opportunity for Crawford County residents to sign up for the Smart911 Program on Wednesday, May 22, from 1-3 p.m. Smart911 is a free service available in the area to help you when you call 9-1-1. Once you have signed up, first responders will be aware of important information you have provided that will help them address your emergency. This information – including medical issues, current location and even pets – can help Police, Fire, and EMS locate and help you. For more information call (989) 348-7123. Senior Center to conduct Rummage Sale - There will be a one-day Rummage Sale Fundraiser on Friday, May 24, in the Recreation Room at the Senior Center. The Rummage Sale will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be no collection of items at the Senior Center. All proceeds go to the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center. Free Food Distribution to be held - Free Food Distribution will be held at Mt. Hope Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m.
Veterans can get ride to VA hospital - Veterans living in Crawford, Kalkaska, Roscommon, Otsego, or Ogemaw counties can arrange to be picked up along the I-75 corridor for a ride to the VA hospital by a Disabled American Veterans van. Call the Veterans Service Office at (989) 344-3861.
Free six-week diabetes class offered - A Diabetes PATH Workshop will be on Tuesdays, beginning May 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. It’s a free six-week class. Any adults interested in diabetes may attend, including adults with pre-diabetes, Type 1 or 2, family, friends, or caregivers. Classes will be held at the Frederic Township Hall, 6470 Manistee.
