Senior Center to host first aid class - The Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center and the American Heart Association are hosting a First Aid, CPR with AED Certification Event on Tuesday, May 29, from 2-7 p.m. The class will be taught by Captain Dana Swander of the Frederic Fire Department, who is a paramedic and trained instructor for the American Heart Association. The skills covered in this course include first aid, choking relief, what to do for sudden cardiac arrest, and education in the use of the Automated External Defibrillator machine. The cost is $65 if you want the two-year certification. To just attend the class and learn the material, the cost is $50. If you’d like to attend, call the Commission on Aging to register at (989) 348-7123. The Senior Center is located at 308 Lawndale Street in Grayling. 
GHS to conduct Baccalaureate - Grayling High School seniors, family, friends, and members of the community are invited to attend the school’s Baccalaureate Service – a non-denominational religious service planned by and featuring the graduates – on Wednesday, May 30, at 6 p.m. in the Joseph Stripe Auditorium.
Veterans can get ride to VA hospital - Veterans living in Crawford, Kalkaska, Roscommon, Otsego, or Ogemaw counties can arrange to be picked up along the I-75 corridor for a ride to the VA hospital by a Disabled American Veterans van. Call Veterans Service Office (989) 344-3861.
Church to host 19th Annual Rhubarb Social - Bear Lake Christian Church, located halfway between Grayling and Kalkaska on M-72, will host its 19th Annual Rhubarb Social on Sunday, May 27, from noon to 3 p.m. (rain or shine). This year’s musical selections will be presented by The Walkers. Everyone is welcome. The church will be selling hot dogs, drinks, rhubarb dessert, ice cream, and baked goods during the event.
