MSUE offers diabetes workshop - Michigan State University Extension is offering a Diabetes Personal Action Toward Health workshop on June 12, 19, 26, and July 10, 17, and 24, from 1-4 p.m. at the MSU Extension Office at 501 Norway Street, Suite 2, in Grayling. The free workshop is aimed at empowering people to take an active role in diabetes management. Adults of all ages interested in diabetes may attend, including adults with pre-diabetes, Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, family members, and caregivers.
 
Recycling presentation to be held - Join the Crawford County Commission on Aging on Tuesday, June 6, at 12:15 p.m. as it presents “Recycle Everything.” Gary Lamberg from TrueNorth Community Services will talk about how to reuse common household waste. Lunch beforehand will include sweet and sour meatballs, brown rice, Prince Charles veggie blend, cauliflower, and burst o’ berries. The cost is a suggested $3 donation for those 60 and over and a $5 charge for those under 60. The presentation will be held at the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center at 308 Lawndale Street. For more information contact the Senior Center at (989) 348-7123.
 
D.A.R.E. Golf Outing set for June 15 - The Crawford County Sheriff's Office has scheduled the annual D.A.R.E. Golf Outing at the Grayling Country Club for Thursday, June 15. Shotgun start at 10 a.m. The outing offers the opportunity to win a car, sponsored by Matt LaFontaine Automotive and Feeny Ford, by making a hole-in-one on #5 or #7. This event is a fundraiser to support youth services in local schools and the community such as the D.A.R.E. program, Junior Deputy, and the Bicycle Safety Rodeo. Frederic Satellite Meal slated for June 9 - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Frederic Satellite Meal on Friday, June 9, at noon at the Frederic Township Hall. The lunch includes chicken cordon bleu, mashed potatoes, green beans, and peaches. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over and a $5 cost for those under 60. Munson Home Health will provide blood pressure and sugar checks and Bingo will be played following the meal. Call (989) 348-7123 for a reservation. The Frederic Township Hall is located at 6470 Manistee, Frederic.  
 
Free neck massages available at senior center - The Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center offers free Neck Massage Therapy on the first Tuesday of the month from 1-3 p.m. with Licensed Massage Therapist Heidi Tuszynski. The neck massages take place at the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center, which is located at 308 Lawndale Street in Grayling.  There is not a charge for these massages but you must have an appointment by calling (989) 348-7123 to schedule your 10-minute session. 
 
Senior Center to host Father’s Day Dinner - The community is invited to attend a Father’s Day Dinner on Thursday, June 8, from 4-6 p.m. at the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center. Bring the family and enjoy BBQ ribs, baked beans, ramen noodle salad, watermelon, and apple pie. The cost of dinner is a suggested $3 donation for those 60 and over and a cost of $5 for those under 60. Dinner is open to the public and no reservations are required. Euchre Tuesdays to be held - The Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center would like to invite you to play Euchre Tuesdays. The Euchre Group meets every Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Senior Center, 308 Lawndale Street. For more information call (989) 348-7123.
 
Artisan Village offers summer classes - Are you or your children or grandchildren looking for something to do this summer? Sign up for the new Artisan Village Creativity Center Summer Program. Five different four-day classes all taught by area artists are designed to inspire creativity. Registration begins June 5. Classes begin July 17. Fundraiser to benefit food pantry - Wendy’s will conduct a fundraiser to benefit the Christian Help Center Food Pantry next week. On Tuesday, June 6, from 5-8 p.m. a percentage of sales from the Grayling Wendy’s will go to the food pantry to help stock the shelves.
