Shopping trip to Gaylord set for June 14 - The next Out To Lunch Bunch trip is June 14. The trip includes lunch (self-pay) at a different restaurant around Gaylord each month and a trip to the Walmart Plaza for shopping. The cost of the trip is $10 per person. Bus will leave Grayling at 10:30 a.m. Lunch in Gaylord will be around 11:30 a.m. Shopping will be from approximately 12:30 p.m. to 2/2:30 p.m. The bus will be parked in the Walmart lot so if you are done shopping early, you can get back on. Bus will be picking up passengers at the Grayling Mini Mall at 10:30 a.m. Park your vehicle on the south side of the car wash. Bus will then pick up people at the Frederic Township Hall between 10:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. Park on the north end of the parking lot in Frederic. Artisan Village to host free concert - Dharma Records USA and Artisan Village will present in concert Emmy award winning artist Michelle Chenard, and also Donny Hartman, Detroit R & R Hall of Fame, on Thursday, June 13, from 7-9 p.m. The Artisan Village is located at 219 Michigan Avenue. Trailblaze for Trail Mix set for June 8 - Join Huron Pines and Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital for a free, family-friendly event. Trailblaze for Trail Mix will be held on Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Northbound Outfitters in Grayling. The event includes four hands-on stations focused on physical and environmental health staffed by Huron Pines and Munson Healthcare. Everyone will leave with their own trail mix and some suggestions for more local places to explore.
 
Father’s Day Dinner to be held at Senior Center - The community is invited to attend a Father’s Day Dinner on Thursday, June 13, from 4-6 p.m. at the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center.  Bring the whole family and enjoy BBQ ribs, corn, garlic skin red potatoes, watermelon, and lemon meringue pie. The cost of dinner is a suggested $3.50 donation for those 60 and over and a cost of $5.50 for those under 60. Dinner is open to the public and no reservations are required. The Senior Center is located at 308 Lawndale Street in Grayling. For more information contact the Senior Center at (989) 348-7123. After the dinner, head over to the free concert at the AuSable Artisan Village from 7-9 p.m. The concert features Detroit R&R Hall of Famer Donny Hartman and Michigan Emmy award artist Michelle Chenard.  
 
Garden Club to take trip to Pond Hill Farm - The Kirtland Garden Club, a local group, will car pool to Pond Hill Farm, a multigenerational, agricultural tourism destination just north of Harbor Springs on June 17. Pond Hill Farm is home to 200 acres of food and fun that includes a cafe, a brewery, a winery, and a farm store with produce and products grown on the farm, such as jams and sauces. Family owned, and now in its third generation of Spencers, the farm also caters to family outings with petting animals for children and many seasonal and holiday activities. This trip is offered to Kirtland Garden Club members and their guests, as well as the public and prospective members. Questions and RSVP to Nancy at 422-6017. The June business meeting will follow lunch at the Pond Hill Farm Cafe to gear up for the annual Garden Tour on June 29 and Plant Sale on July 13. The Kirtland Garden Club meets monthly throughout the year on third Mondays to hear speakers on gardening topics, work on community beautification projects, and take planned trips.
 
Explore the trails of Crawford County - The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center invites you to join them every Wednesday at 1 p.m. to explore the beautiful trails around Crawford County. The group will meet at different trailheads every Wednesday and walk throughout the woods. Explore trails such as Hartwick Pines State Park, Hanson Hills Recreation Area, Mason Tract Pathway, North Higgins Lake State Park, and the Beal Plantation. If you do not have a Recreation Passport on your vehicle, a $16 cost per vehicle is needed to enter state parks. The group will try to car pool to decrease the cost. Coffee hour for veterans canceled - The Crawford County Veteran’s Service Office coffee hour for June has been canceled. The event is normally held on the second Thursday of each month. For more information, contact the Veteran’s Service Office at (989) 344-3861.
 
American Legion Auxiliary to meet - The American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the American Legion on Tuesday, June 11. The group meets once a month on the second Tuesday of each month.
 
Veterans can get ride to VA hospital - Veterans living in Crawford, Kalkaska, Roscommon, Otsego, or Ogemaw counties can arrange to be picked up along the I-75 corridor for a ride to the VA hospital by a Disabled American Veterans van. Call the Veterans Service Office at (989) 344-3861. 
 
End of school year plant sale to be held - Relay for Life and Michigan State University Extension are joining together for a plant sale on June 7. There will be fruits, veggies, annuals, and perennials for sale and ready to be planted. Plants are $3 each or two for $5. All profits are split between the two organizations. Location and time of sale is at the Grayling Elementary School cafeteria on June 7 from 3:20-5 p.m. or until the plants run out. Refreshments and healthy snacks available for purchase.
