Lovells Satellite Meal to be held on June 15 - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Lovells Satellite Meal on Friday, June 15, at 12 p.m. at the Lovells Township Hall. The lunch includes pepper steak, brown rice, stir fry vegetable, asparagus, and a fresh apple. Lunch is open to the public. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over and a $5 cost for those under 60.  Munson Home Health will provide blood pressure and sugar checks and Bingo will be played following the meal. Coffee hour for veterans to be held - The Crawford County Veteran’s Service Office will be hosting a coffee hour on the second Thursday of each month. The next meeting will take place at American Legion Post #106 on Thursday, June 14, from 9-10 a.m. Coffee, tea, and doughnuts will be provided free of charge. This is an event for veterans to meet and talk with each other. It will be a social setting with no formal speeches or agenda. All veterans are welcome. Breakfast presentation topic is elder abuse - The Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center will host a free breakfast presentation on Tuesday, June 12, at 9 a.m. The topic will be Victims of Crime Act, featuring Erika Damsletter, Crime Victims Legal Assistance Project Elder Abuse Attorney for Northern Michigan. Breakfast includes an omelet station, hash browns, muffins, mixed fruit, juice, and coffee. The breakfast and presentation will be held at the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center, 308 Lawndale Street. For more information call (989) 348-7123. 
Senior Center to host Blood Drive - The Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program are hosting a Michigan Blood Drive on Tuesday, June 12, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Attempt to donate and be entered for a chance to win a One Night Stay Golf Getaway in Traverse City compliments of West Bay Beach, A Holiday Inn Resort, and LochenHealth Golf Club. Appointments are preferred by contacting 1-866-MIBLOOD (642-5663) or The Senior Center is located at 308 Lawndale Street. 
American Legion Auxiliary to meet - The American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the American Legion on Tuesday, June 12. The group meets once a month on the second Tuesday of each month.
Seniors can receive coupons for fresh produce - The Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center is again hosting the 2018 Senior Project Fresh Farmers Market Nutrition Program. Starting June 11 you can begin calling to schedule your appointment. Qualified older adults receive $20 worth of coupons that are used to purchase fresh Michigan produce at participating Project Fresh Markets, including the Grayling Farmers Market and the Grayling Greenhouse. To qualify, you must be 60 years old or older, be a Crawford County resident, and meet maximum income guidelines. For a household of one, income must be below $1,871.58/month. For a household of two, income must be below $2,537.58/month. Coupon distribution will take place on a first-come, first-served basis. If you feel you qualify and would like to participate in the program, contact Karl Schreiner at (989) 348-7123 to schedule an appointment. There will be no class this year, only one-on-one appointments.
D.A.R.E. Golf Outing still has team openings - The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office has scheduled the annual D.A.R.E. Golf Outing at the Grayling Country Club for Thursday, June 21, at 10 a.m. This outing does have the opportunity to win a car, sponsored by Matt LaFontaine Automotive, by making a hole-in-one on hole #7. This event is a fundraiser to support youth services in the schools and community such as D.A.R.E., Jr. Deputy Program, Bicycle Safety Rodeo, and multiple sponsorships toward youth activities. COA to conduct Tapping Workshop - The Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center invites you to a Tapping Workshop on Thursday, June 14, at 6 p.m. Tapping is a combination of ancient Chinese acupressure and modern neuroscience that is effective in easing anxiety and pain, and changing negative thought patterns. Join Marian Long, RN, MSN and Martha Burns, LMSW as they explore the art and science of Tapping, and how to use it for yourselves and others. Come early before the workshop for a pork chop supreme dinner. Those 60 years of age and over dinner is a suggested donation of $3. Those under 60 the cost is $5.
