Father’s Day Dinner to be held at Senior Center - The community is invited to attend a Father’s Day Dinner on Thursday, June 21, from 4-6 p.m. at the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center.  Bring the whole family and enjoy BBQ ribs, country baked beans, ramen noodle salad, watermelon, and cherry pie. The cost of dinner is a suggested $3 donation for those 60 and over and a cost of $5 for those under 60. Dinner is open to the public and no reservations are required. Church to host free food distribution event - A free food distribution event will be held at Mt. Hope Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 16, at 11 a.m. Free lunch is included.
Senior Center to host Funeral Home Seminar - The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center will host a Funeral Home Seminar on Tuesday, June 19, at 5:45 p.m. featuring Terrie Lockwood of the Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home. Due to a new law regarding the designation of a Funeral Representative, this could benefit you in your funeral planning. Veterans may also have some benefits about which they are not aware.  Before the seminar enjoy a western omelet dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Those 60 and over are a $3 suggested donation. Artisan Village to host concert - Dharma Records USA and Artisan Village will present an evening of jazz, blues, and country rock with musicians Steve Sandner and Brian Ashton on Wednesday, June 20, from 7-9 p.m. The Artisan Village is located at 219 Michigan Avenue. League of Women Voters to meet - The League of Women Voters Crawford County Unit will meet on Tuesday, June 19, at 7 p.m. in the Nature Center (next to the American Legion). The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Music, comedy performance to be held - Stephen and Marie Forester (gospel singing, instrumentals, puppets, comedy) will perform at the Bear Lake Christian Church on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 17, during morning worship at 10 a.m.
Grayling, Kalkaska COAs plan Maine trip - The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center is joining the Kalkaska Commission on Aging on a trip to Maine. This nine-day trip is scheduled from September 8-16. The cost of the trip is $855 per person, which includes nine days and eight nights, motor coach transportation, 14 meals (eight breakfasts and six dinners), guided tour of Portland, Maine’s largest city-by-the-sea, tour of historic Victoria Mansion, guided tour of Pineland Farms, visit to Boothbay Railway Village and the Seashore Trolley Museum along with a countryside trolley ride and much more. $75 is due upon signing and the final payment is due July 1. Library to host breastfeeding series - La Leche League will offer a new summer series in Grayling on the third Tuesday of each month at the Devereaux Memorial Library, 201 Plum Street. The international organization has been providing breastfeeding information and support to women since 1956. The first meeting in Grayling will be held on Tuesday, June 19, from 2-3:30 p.m. Pregnant women and mothers with babies and young children are invited to attend. COA cancels Tapping Workshop - The Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center has cancelled a Tapping Workshop scheduled for Thursday, June 14, at 6 p.m. For questions call (989) 348-7123.
