Church to host taco/nacho bar fundraiser - St. Francis Episcopal Church will host a taco/nacho bar fundraiser for Pat Kucharek on Thursday, June 29, from 5-7 p.m. Kucharek recently received a kidney transplant, and money raised from the event will go to help with his recovery, medications, and doctor visits. The event will include a raffle of a “Mucho Grande Basket.” Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. The church is located at 6441 W. M-72 in Grayling.
 
Senior Center to host Michigan Blood Drive - The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program along with the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center are hosting a Michigan Blood Drive on Wednesday, June 28, from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Attempt to donate and you could win a $100 Meijer Gift Card. Appointments are preferred. To schedule an appointment, contact the Senior Center at (989) 348-7123. The Senior Center is located at 308 Lawndale Street in Grayling. 
 
Frederic Alumni Picnic slated for June 24 - The Frederic High School Alumni Picnic will be held on Saturday, June 24, at 2 p.m. at the Frederic Community Center. For more information, call (231) 676-9350.
 
Free legal assistance available to seniors - The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center, in partnership with the Jason R. Thompson Law Office PLC and Larry J. Brown Jr. PLLC from the Law office of Carey & Jaskowski, is offering free legal assistance on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 1-4 p.m. Appointments are available for older adults, age 60 and over, in Crawford County. Consultations are by appointment only and will last 20 to 30 minutes. For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact the Commission on Aging at (989) 348-7123.
 
Presentation to discuss rotator cuff injury - The Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center will host a free breakfast presentation on Thursday, June 29, at 9 a.m. Join Dr. John R. Reineck, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon, from Great Lakes Orthopaedics, who also provides services for Munson Healthcare Grayling Surgical Services, as he discusses rotator cuff injury. Dr. Reineck will talk about treatment options available to restore shoulder function, relieve shoulder pain, as well as surgical treatment options. Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, blueberry muffins, fresh fruit, juice, and coffee. The breakfast and presentation will be held at the Senior Center, 308 Lawndale Street in Grayling.
