Senior Center to host BBQ - Summer is in full swing and everyone is invited to attend a Chicken BBQ Dinner on Thursday, July 19, from 4-6 p.m. at the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center. Menu includes BBQ chicken, potato salad, corn on cob, watermelon, and assorted desserts. The meal is $5 for those under age 60 with a suggested donation of $3 for people 60 and over. Dinner is open to the public and no reservations are required. The Senior Center is located at 308 Lawndale Street. For more information contact the Senior Center at (989) 348-7123.
 
Artisan Village to host free concert - Dharma Records USA and Artisan Village will present another evening of entertainment with Project 6, an acoustic rock show, on Wednesday, July 18, from 7-9 p.m. The Artisan Village is located at 219 Michigan Avenue. The concert is open to the public and there is no charge. Donations are accepted. For more information, contact Bea Patrick at (989) 348-5995.
 
Church to conduct Free Food Distribution - Mt. Hope Lutheran Church – located at 905 N. I-75 Business Loop in Grayling – will conduct a Free Food Distribution event on Saturday, July 14, at 10 a.m. Lunch will be provided. The food is free to Crawford County residents.
 
Church to host Low Country Boil - Michelson Church (400 Michigan Avenue) will host a Low Country Boil on Tuesday, July 24. Seatings are at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7 p.m. Tickets are $18 in advance, or $20 at the door. While they last, you can buy an entire table of eight in advance for $120. Tickets are available at Tip ’N The Mitten and Flowers By Josie/Thanks a Latte, at the church during office hours, or between services on Sunday. A Low Country Boil is a southern meal of shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes steamed together, and served with corn bread. A shellfish-free option is also available. Meal includes drinks and dessert. The event will also include live music and lawn games.
 
Lovells Satellite Meal slated for July 20 - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Lovells Satellite Meal on Friday, July 20, at 12 p.m. at the Lovells Township Hall. The lunch includes beef pot roast, red skin potato, carrots, and a fresh orange. Lunch is open to the public. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over and a $5 cost for those under 60. Munson Home Health will provide blood pressure and sugar checks and Bingo will be played following the meal. Call (989) 348-7123 for a reservation. The Lovells Township Hall is located at 8405 Twin Bridge Road.
