GHS Class of 1978 reunion planned - The Grayling High School Class of 1978 will conduct reunion activities on the weekend of August 11-12. All members of the class are invited to attend. There will be an icebreaker on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Spike’s. On Saturday, August 11, at 6 p.m. the class will hold its 40th Class Reunion at Tinker’s Junction on M-72 West. No cost is involved. Classmates can order from the menu. A band will be playing ‘70s music. The class will host its reunion outside (weather permitting). Other activities are also being planned. Senior Center to host Hippie Party - Grab your love beads and your old forty-fives. Dust off your bell bottoms for a party that really jives. It’s a Hippy Party at the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center, Thursday, August 9, at 5:45 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and recall the good times of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Featuring the best Hippie Costume Contest, Guess the Hippie, what your name would have been in the Hippie Age, and groovy dessert. A stuffed peppers dinner will be served from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The cost of dinner is $5 for those under 60 and a suggested $3 donation for those 60 and over. Coffee hour for veterans to be held - The Crawford County Veteran’s Service Office will be hosting a coffee hour on the second Thursday of each month. The next meeting will take place at American Legion Post #106 on Thursday, August 9, from 9-10 a.m. Coffee, tea, and doughnuts will be provided free of charge. This is an event for veterans to meet and talk with each other. It will be a social setting with no formal speeches or agenda. All veterans are welcome. Frederic Satellite Meal to be held - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Frederic Satellite Meal on Friday, August 10, at 12 p.m. at the Frederic Township Hall. The lunch includes beef tips and noodles, asparagus, and a fresh apple. Lunch is open to the public. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over and a $5 cost for those under 60. Munson Home Health will provide blood pressure and sugar checks and Bingo will be played following the meal. Call (989) 348-7123 for a reservation. The Frederic Township Hall is located at 6470 Manistee.  
 
DHHS assistance available - DHHS assistance appointments are available at the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center. An Eligibility Specialist from Crawford County Department of Health and Human Services will be at the Senior Center on Wednesday, August 8, from 1-4 p.m. to take appointments. They will be available to meet with individuals to explain DHHS Assistance Programs, answer any questions you may have regarding eligibility requirements, case specific questions, and also take applications for assistance. Half hour appointments are available by calling (989) 348-7123. The Senior Center is located at 308 Lawndale Street.
 
‘Understanding Your Grief’ program to start - Munson Hospice will conduct an “Understanding Your Grief” program session at the Crawford County Devereaux Memorial Library on Fridays starting on August 10 and ending on October 12 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Program is free of charge for all 10 sessions. An RSVP is encouraged but not required. Contact the Munson Hospice Bereavement Coordinator at 1-800-252-2065.
