Artisan Village to host stage class - “Summertime Stage” (for students ages 7-17), taught by Chad Patterson, runs Monday-Thursday, August 12-15, at the AuSable Artisan Village (219 Michigan Avenue). Students will work with writing, improvisation, acting, and scenery while developing a performance that will be presented after the last day of class. The cost is $30. Teams can sign up for Bubble Soccer - Project Graduation 2020 will present Bubble Soccer on Saturday, September 14, from 3-8 p.m. at Grayling High School’s football field. Registration for teams (six players) is now open. Sign up fee is $120 per team. To register a team, email JulieBluemlein@yahoo.com or call (989) 745-5356. In addition to bubble soccer, the event will feature the Human Hamster Ball, a 50/50 raffle, and concessions. Admission charge will be $5 per individual or $20 per family (four or more people). Children five and under get in free. The event will raise money for Project Graduation.
 
American Legion Auxiliary to meet - The American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the American Legion on Tuesday, August 13. The group meets once a month on the second Tuesday of each month.
 
Garden Club to visit Midland Nature Center - The Kirtland Garden Club, a local group, will visit the Chippewa Nature Center in Midland on Monday, August 19, for a naturalist presentation on Creating a Bird Friendly Yard and Homestead Garden Tour. The presentation will bust some bird feeding myths, discuss types of feeders, which seeds birds will eat, and how to avoid window kills. The Homestead Farm area features an 1870s-style farmstead with a log cabin, timber frame barn, root cellar, wagon barn, chicken coop, farm animals, garden, crop fields, and (modern) outhouse. Participants will meet at Burger King at the corner of M-18 and M-55 at 8:15 a.m. for car pooling. The tour will run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Lunch and short meeting will follow. This outing is for KGC members, guests, and prospective members. The club meets on the third Monday of each month all year. Questions and RSVP to Nancy at 422-6017. 
 
Free concert to be held - The community is invited to attend a free concert with Brian Ashton on Thursday, August 15, at 5:45 p.m. at the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center.  Ashton is a local musician and singer who has had the opportunity to share center stage with artists such as Tanya Tucker, Jerry Lee Lewis, Grand Funk Railroad, Teagarden & Van Winkle, Faron Young, & Bob Seger. Before the concert enjoy a French dip sandwich dinner served from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Dinner is a suggested donation of $3.50 for those 60 and over and a costs $5.50 cost for those under 60. The Senior Center is located at 308 Lawndale Street. There will be no charge for this event, but donations are appreciated. For more information call (989) 348-7123.
 
Kayak Trip to be held at Higgins Lake - The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center invites you to join them for a Kayak Trip on Friday, August 16, to explore Higgins Lake. Paddle through the fresh water, enjoy the scenery, and have a good time. The group will meet at the access site near B & B Sports Center & Marina off Forrest Avenue at 12 p.m. on August 16. The event is free and the Senior Center will provide kayaks, life vests, and paddles at no charge. For those who wish to bring their own kayaks and gear, additional spots can be opened. Do not forget to bring sunscreen and water to stay hydrated during the venture. Outing will last approximately two hours from start to finish. No experience is necessary but the ability to get up from the floor easily with little to no assistance is required along with lower body mobility. Senior Centers to take trip to Tigers game - The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center is joining the Bellaire Senior Center for a trip to see the Detroit Tigers. The trip is scheduled for September 12 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The cost of the trip is $100, which includes ticket, transportation, water and snack on the way down, and hot dog and drink at the game. CASD annual get together to be held - The Crawford AuSable School District retirees group will hold its annual get together with a luncheon on Wednesday, August 21, at Bear’s Den in downtown Grayling. Church to host Rummage and Bake Sale - The Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, located at 149 W. Robinson Road, will host Market For Missions Rummage and Bake Sale on Friday, August 16, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, August 17, from 9 a.m. to noon.
