CASD annual get together to be held - The Crawford AuSable School retirees group will hold their annual get together with a luncheon on Wednesday, August 15, at Bear’s Den in downtown Grayling. Artisan Village to host free concert - Dharma Records USA and Artisan Village will bring back the MotorCity Memories Band on Wednesday, August 15, from 7-9 p.m. The Artisan Village is located at 219 Michigan Avenue. Library to host cooking class - The Devereaux Memorial Library, located at 201 Plum Street, will host a cooking class on August 14 and 18 at 5:45 p.m. To RSVP, email Chef Larcher at firstname.lastname@example.org. The focus of the free class will be use of gourmet herbs and seasonings.
COA to conduct Lovells Satellite Meal - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Lovells Satellite Meal on Friday, August 17, at 12 p.m. at the Lovells Township Hall. The lunch includes baked ham, baked sweet potato, green beans, and applesauce. Lunch is open to the public. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over and a $5 cost for those under 60. American Legion Auxiliary to meet - The American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the American Legion on Tuesday, August 14. The group meets once a month on the second Tuesday of each month.
Drug free coalition to meet - Crawford County’s drug free coalition, Crawford Partnership for Substance Abuse Prevention (CPSAP), meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Grayling City Hall, 9-11 a.m. CPSAP is made up of members of the community who are interested in heightening awareness surrounding drug abuse and addiction, as well as working on prevention initiatives in the community. At the next meeting on August 14, guest speaker Marie Helveston will share Crawford County and northern Michigan data on substance use issues. All community members are welcome to attend. Senior Center to host BBQ pork dinner - The community is invited to attend a Hog Roast Dinner at the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center on Thursday, August 16, from 4-6 p.m. The dinner includes BBQ pork roast, three bean BBQ style, coconut fruit salad, country slaw, and strawberry whip cake. The meal is $5 per person for those under the age of 60 and a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over. The dinner is open to the public and no reservations are required. Local garden club to meet in Gaylord - The Kirtland Garden Club, a local group, will conduct its August meeting at the demonstration gardens in Gaylord on Monday, August 20. Meeting will include a guided tour of the gardens. Lunch and a short meeting will follow at a nearby restaurant. The group will be carpooling from the Four Mile truck stop.
