Business Conference to be held at Kirtland - The Grayling Regional Chamber of Commerce, Grayling Main Street, Michigan Works Northeast Consortium, Sawmill Rural Business Center, and Kirtland Community College are hosting the 1st Annual Northern Michigan Entrepreneurial Business Conference on September 25-26 at Kirtland Health Sciences Center (Four Mile Road). This event will host keynote speakers/breakfast each morning, workshops throughout the day with lunch provided, and panel discussions at the end of each day. Rooms have been blocked at Super 8 Hotel and Ramada Inn in Grayling for participants. Attendees will be able to choose to attend one or both days: one day $50 (includes breakfast and lunch), two days $80 (includes breakfast and lunch both days). The event will conclude with a Business After Hours networking event on Thursday, September 26, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Kirtland Health Sciences Center (Business After Hours entry fee will be waived for conference attendees). Rialto to host ‘The Muppet Movie’ showing - The Rialto Theater in Grayling will host a special showing of “The Muppet Movie” at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 1. This year mark’s the film’s 40th anniversary. Tickets are $5 for children and $8 for adults. Advance tickets are available at the Rialto and Tip’n the Mitten during normal business hours, and Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Rialto is donating the proceeds from the event to Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church’s Bell Tower Restoration Fund. Church to host music event - The Bear Lake Christian Church (221 E. Bear Lake Road) will host music/missionary family John & Kate Music at 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 1.  
 
COA, AAV team up for Creative Art Series - The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center is collaborating with the AuSable Artisan Village to offer a Creative Art Series starting in September. Join them at the Commission on Aging & Senior Center every Tuesday from September 3 until September 17 in the Rec Room to bring out your creative side. Sessions include Autumn Leaves Painting on September 3 for $35, a Photography Workshop on September 10 for $15, and Zendoodle Illustration on September 17 for $12. Register for one, two, or all three classes. Registration and payment is required prior to each event and includes all supplies. Line dancing to be held on Tuesdays - The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center’s Line Dancing class will be returning to its normal time on Tuesdays at 2:30 p.m. Line Dancing is a low-impact cardiovascular exercise with choreographed steps that improve balance, flexibility, and motor coordination.  Join the event every Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. starting September 3 for fun and exercise with instructor Susan Lynch. Senior Center moves greeting card program - The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center’s greeting card sales have moved to Chasing Dreams: River House Resale at 6375 M-72 West in Grayling. The cards include blank note cards, thank you cards, and a wide variety of holiday cards. Cards can be purchased at 25 cents apiece or five for $1.
 
Scholarship opportunity available - Scholarship applications are available beginning September 1 for members of North Central Area Credit Union who are working on their college degree or vocational-technical school certificate. NCACU will award up to $3,000 in scholarship(s) to member(s) in good standing who have completed at least 24 credit hours in their college program and are actively involved in community service through volunteer opportunities. Applications are available in the branches or online at www.NCACU.org. Applications must be received no later than October 31, 2019. 
 
Veterans can get ride to VA hospital - Veterans living in Crawford, Kalkaska, Roscommon, Otsego, or Ogemaw counties can arrange to be picked up along the I-75 corridor for a ride to the VA hospital by a Disabled American Veterans van. Call the Veterans Service Office at (989) 344-3861. 
 
Explore the trails in Crawford County - The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center invites you to join them every Friday at 10 a.m. during September and October to explore the beautiful trails around Crawford County. They will meet at different trailheads every week and walk as a group throughout the woods. Explore trails such as Hartwick Pines State Park, Hanson Hills Recreation Area, Mason Tract Pathway, and Wellington Farm. For those who do not have a Recreation Passport on their vehicle, a $16 cost per vehicle is needed to enter state parks. The group will try to car pool to decrease the cost.
