Presentation to feature ballot proposal info - On Thursday, September 27, from 6-8 p.m. at the Grayling City Hall (1020 City Boulevard), the League of Women Voters of Grand Traverse Area – Crawford County Unit will host a forum entitled “Michigan Ballot Proposal Presentation.” The presentation will include information on the upcoming ballot proposal to legalize marijuana, establish a citizen’s redistricting committee, and to secure elections and voting rights. Alzheimer’s Association to make presentation - The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center is hosting a presentation with The Alzheimer’s Association about Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body on Tuesday, September 25, at 5:45 p.m. Learn about research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity, and social engagement, and use hands-on tools to help you incorporate these recommendations into a plan for healthy aging. Before the presentation enjoy a beef pot pie dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The suggested donation for those 60 and over is $3. The price for those under 60 is $5. Dinner is open to the public. Chair Yoga to be held at Senior Center - This month Chair Yoga is September 27 at 6 p.m. at the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center. Chair Yoga aims to give you the experience of classical yoga, even if you have mobility issues or find regular yoga challenging. It will help improve flexibility, strength, balance, and focus. Join instructor Nicole Wethington and enjoy the many benefits of yoga without sitting or lying on the floor. This class is free and open to the public. COA to host cornhole play - Everyone is invited to come and play cornhole at the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center. This activity is scheduled once a month after the Birthday Dinner. This month, cornhole is being held Tuesday, September 25, at 5:45 p.m. Experts or novices, rain or shine. This is a free event. There will be a beef pot pie dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Those 60 years of age and over dinner is a suggested donation of $3. Those under 60 the cost is $5. Senior Center to host food safety program - The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service is offering a free “Food Safety 101” to seniors and food service volunteers at the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center on Friday, September 28, at 1 p.m. Come and learn some great tips for keeping you and others safe from foodborne illness.
