Local MARSP chapter to hold fall meeting - The Crawford-Oscoda Chapter of MARSP (Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel) will hold its annual fall meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the Kirtland Community College Health Sciences Center in Grayling. Event to raise money for Bark For Life - On Saturday, Oct. 14, The Pet Parlor of Houghton Lake will conduct the 1st Annual Bark For Life event – it will feature nail trims, doggie massages, doggie biscuits, and a raffle for free grooming – at the Grayling City Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations from the event will go toward the American Cancer Society’s Bark For Life.
 
Artisan Village to host free concert - Dharma Records USA and Artisan Village will present Oh Brother Big Sister for their Album Release Celebration Concert on Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 7-9 p.m. The Artisan Village is located at 219 Michigan Avenue. Free divorce clinic offered - The 46th Judicial Circuit Bar Association, Legal Services of Northern Michigan, and Community Mediation Services will conduct a free divorce clinic at the Crawford County Courthouse at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19. Legal Services staff attorneys will provide classroom instruction and volunteer attorneys will be available for private consultations. All forms will be supplied free to participants. COA to conduct Frederic Satellite Meal - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Frederic Satellite Meal on Friday, Oct. 13, at 12 p.m. at the Frederic Township Hall. The lunch includes roast turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, peas and pearl onions, and apricots. Lunch is open to the public. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over and a $5 cost for those under 60. Munson Home Health will provide blood pressure and sugar checks and Bingo will be played following the meal. Call (989) 348-7123 for a reservation. The Frederic Township Hall is located at 6470 Manistee.  
 
Red Tent Tea to be held on Tuesday - A Red Tent Tea event will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. at the Community of Christ Church. The group is researching local service opportunities. Bring recommendations. Call (989) 348-8466 for more information.
 
Harvest Dinner to be held at Senior Center - The Commission on Aging and Senior Center – located at 308 Lawndale Street in Grayling – will host a Harvest Dinner on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 4-6 p.m. Menu includes cornish hens, baked sweet potato, roasted green bean with mushrooms, cranberry salad, and apple pie. The suggested donation for seniors 60 years and above is $3 and the under 60 cost is $5 per person. The dinner is open to the public. Veterans can get ride to VA hospital - Veterans living in Crawford, Kalkaska, Roscommon, Otsego, or Ogemaw counties can arrange to be picked up along the I-75 corridor for a ride to the VA hospital by a Disabled American Veterans van. Spaghetti dinner to benefit Animal Shelter - A spaghetti dinner to benefit the AuSable Valley Animal Shelter will be held at Gray Rock Pub & Grub on Sunday, Oct. 15, from 4-7 p.m. Cost to attend is $6 for adults and $4 for kids.
 
Lovells Satellite Meal to be held - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Lovells Satellite Meal on Friday, Oct. 20, at 12 p.m. at the Lovells Township Hall. The lunch includes chicken stir fry with brown rice, pineapple chunks, and a fresh orange. Lunch is open to the public. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over and a $5 cost for those under 60. Munson Home Health will provide blood pressure and sugar checks and Bingo will be played following the meal. Call (989) 348-7123 for a reservation. The Lovells Township Hall is located at 8405 Twin Bridge Road.
