Sign up kids for Toys for Tots
Parents can sign up their children for Toys for Tots at the Christian Help Center Food Pantry from November 2 through November 30, Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
Enroll in Medicare or review options
The Commission on Aging & Senior Center is offering appointments to help Crawford County residents on Medicare or enrolling in Medicare to review current options and get help choosing the best plan for their needs. Appointments will take place by Zoom or phone. If you’d like to set up an appointment or get info about reviewing plans yourself, call Tammy Findlay at (989) 348-7123.
Explore area trails
Join the Commission on Aging to explore trails around Crawford County and Roscommon County before the weather gets too cold. Meet up on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. until November 11 to walk as a group through the woods. Social distancing measures will be taken. Free holiday dinners available
Roscommon Holiday Dinners LLC will be providing free dinners on Thanksgiving and Christmas at the VFW Hall Post #4159 (Terrace Drive, Roscommon). Seating is limited to 50 seats per hour and reservations are required. Reservation phone lines will be open from November 1-26 and December 1-25 at (989) 808-1722. Dine-in time slots are 12-1 p.m., 1-2 p.m., 2-3 p.m., 3-4 p.m., 4-5 p.m., and 5-6 p.m. A pick-up lane will be available from 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; please call or text ahead with the number of meals wanted. If volunteers are available, there will be limited delivery for homebound people within a close distance. To-Go Soup returns to Senior Center
Starting November 2, To-Go Soup bowls will be returning at the Senior Center. Get a healthy 8oz portion of your favorite soups for $2 each. Soup must be pre-ordered between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and picked-up between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Call upon arrival to have your food brought out to you.
Prescription for Health Program offered
Munson Healthcare in partnership with DHD #10 and the MSU Extension is offering the Prescription for Health Program. Through this free program Crawford County residents ages 18+ can get up to $100 in vouchers to buy fresh, frozen, or canned fruits and vegetables from Family Fare by attending a series of five virtual nutrition education classes. Help for pets available
The AuSable Valley Animal Shelter has partnered with McLean’s Ace Hardware Store in Grayling to provide food for dogs and cats that are in need during this crisis. If you are having financial difficulty feeding your pet, contact Lanice Rutter by calling (989) 745-8951.
COA offers free medical items
The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center has many medical items including walkers, canes, and more available for free for adults ages 60 and over. If you are interested in learning more, call Kathy Meisner at (989) 348-7123. All supplies are first come, first served.
Meals to include desserts
The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center is introducing Dessert Day Tuesdays. Starting November 3 all congregate meals ordered for curbside pick-up on Tuesdays will include a complimentary dessert. Call (989) 348-7123 between the hours of 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to order your meal, then pick up curbside between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
