Festival of Trees to begin 
The Grayling Promotional Association’s 2021 Festival of Trees event is slated for November 12-27 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays at the Grayling Mini Mall. Participants can view the event’s decorated Christmas trees and donated prize baskets and purchase tickets to try to win them. Winners will be drawn on November 28 (no ticket sales that day). The Bearly Used Christmas Store will be open with limited hours in the Mini Mall during the event.
Veterans Day ceremony set for November 11
The Grayling VFW will conduct a public Veterans Day ceremony at American Legion Post 106 on Thursday, November 11, at 11 a.m. A small luncheon will follow.
Curbside Thanksgiving Luncheon to be held 
The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center’s Curbside Thanksgiving Luncheon on November 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. On the menu will be roast turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, stuffing, corn, Mandarin oranges, and pumpkin pie. RSVP before the luncheon by calling 989.348.7123. The cost of the dinner is $6.00 for those under 60 and a suggested donation of $3.50 for those 60 years of age or older. 
FAN Forum slated for November 11
Families Against Narcotics will conduct a Crawford County FAN Forum on Thursday, November 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Francis Episcopal Church (6441 West M-72). The theme of the forum is “Enjoying The Holidays Substance Free” and it will include a panel discussion with tips from people in long-term recovery.
Rotary Club raises money to battle polio
Grayling Rotary Club member Wayne Koppa’s “The Long Day Around” 500-mile motorcycle ride to help raise money for the effort to end polio includes an online fundraising effort. Donations will be tripled by the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation. Donations can be made at
Museum to be open during Christmas Walk
The Crawford County Historical Museum will participate in the 2021 Christmas Walk on November 20. The museum will be open starting at noon. This will be your opportunity to visit the museum and see the depot decorated for Christmas. The museum will also have collection boxes available for Toys for Tots donations. Also, visitors can stop by the Grayling Mini Mall to see the ​museum’s display at the Festival of Trees.
Christmas village display set for November 21
Loren Goodale will once again be opening his home to the public in order to showcase his elaborate train layout, which includes a Christmas-themed village. The event will be held on November 21 from noon to 4 p.m. The home is located at 1629 Industrial Drive. There is no cost to attend. Members of Grayling’s Boy Scout Troop 979 and Pack 3993 will be in attendance to hand out flyers and answer questions.
Chili Cook Off to be held 
River House Shelter and Rolling Oak Brewery will present the 9th Annual Chili Cook Off from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, at Rolling Oak Brewery (509 Norway Street). The event will feature live music and celebrity judges. Admission is $5 (includes chili samples, bread, and dessert). Proceeds will go to River House Shelter.
