Christmas tree sale to have kick-off event
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department will conduct a kick-off event for its Cops For Kids Christmas tree sale from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, at the Grayling Tractor Supply parking lot. Event will feature Santa Claus and free doughnuts/hot chocolate. People can also meet local first responders during the event. The Christmas tree sale will be staffed from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. People can purchase trees via the honor system on other days of the week.
COA offers Medicare Zoom presentation
Join the Crawford County Commission on Aging on Wednesday, November 30, at 11 a.m. via Zoom for a presentation that will help demystify the issues surrounding Medicare. Tammy Findlay, Advocacy & Resource Coordinator, will discuss the various parts of Medicare including what is covered or not covered, Medicare Supplement and Prescription Drug Plans, and how Medicare recipients who have low income can get assistance paying for Prescription Drug Plans and the Medicare Part B premium. Giving Tuesday effort to help Meals on Wheels
The Commission on Aging is partnering with the Community Foundation of Northeast Michigan to raise money for Crawford County Meals on Wheels this Giving Tuesday. For 24 hours on Tuesday, November 29, organizers are asking all donations to be made online (if possible) at Click on the Commission on Aging logo to donate to Crawford County Meals on Wheels. One-hundred percent of your donation given in support of the Commission on Aging will help provide food to homebound seniors in Crawford County.  
Foot care clinic to be held
The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center offers a Foot Care Clinic the fourth Monday of every month from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are provided by Comfort Keepers where a nurse will soak the feet, trim and file toenails, lotion feet, provide foot care tips, and inspect feet for injury and circulation.  The cost of the service is $25. Please bring your own towels (two) and a foot basin to soak feet. The Foot Clinic takes place at the Crawford County Commission on Aging (308 Lawndale, Grayling). AAV to host Christmastime concert
The AuSable Artisan Village will host a concert – Metro Jazz Voices: An American Songbook at Christmastime – on Saturday, December 3, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30. For tickets, visit or call 989.745.6096.
LWV offers election presentation
On Thursday, December 1, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., the League of Women Voters GTA will present a program focused on the Board of Canvassers and the role of this board in the election process. You may attend in person at the Traverse Area District Library, 610 Woodmere Avenue, Traverse City, Michigan or view over LWVGTA Facebook, channel 189 with Spectrum TV in northwest lower Michigan, and on books. Sandy Call, a member of the Grand Traverse County Board of Canvassers, and Sam Gedman, Chief Deputy County Clerk of Grand Traverse County, will be the speakers.   The LWV is a national, nonpartisan organization whose main mission is to empower and inform voters and to defend democracy. The League neither endorses nor opposes candidates or parties, but encourages the informed and active participation of all citizens in government. The website of the local league is 
Chronic Pain workshop offered
Chronic Pain PATH is a six-week self-management workshop designed to help people to take an active role in managing chronic pain. Adults of all ages interested in managing chronic pain are welcome to attend, including those living with chronic pain, family members, and caregivers. Participants learn strategies and skills to manage chronic pain such as: dealing with difficult emotions, poor sleep, fatigue, and stress; planning and pacing activities; developing exercise and healthy eating plans; managing medications and preventing medication misuse; communicating with family, friends, and healthcare providers; decision making and evaluating treatment options; goal setting. The online workshops are free and are two hours for a six-week period and run from February 21, 2023 through March 28, 2023 every Tuesday from 9-11. Giving Tuesday to assist Food Pantry
The Crawford County Community Christian Help Center is one of 62 nonprofits participating in Giving Tuesday Northeast Michigan 2022 through the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan (CFNEM). This year Giving Tuesday is November 29. Any donations made through CFNEM that day on our organization’s behalf will be used specifically to help complete Christmas meals to Food Pantry clients in December. Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving back that falls on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, after the popular shopping days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Locally, the Community Foundation hosts Giving Tuesday Northeast Michigan to make giving back easy, and 100 percent of your donation goes to the organization you choose.
