Christmas Dinner event to be held - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center’s annual Christmas Dinner on Thursday, Dec. 7, from 4-6 p.m. The meal will feature roast beef, au gratin potatoes, rolls, Nantucket blend vegetables, cranberry Waldorf salad, and red velvet cake. The cost of the dinner is $5 for those under 60 and a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 years of age or older. Dinner is open to the public and no reservations are required. Holiday After Hours to be held on Dec. 7 - On Thursday, Dec. 7, the Grayling Regional Chamber of Commerce would like to invite the community to its annual Holiday After Hours event at the Artisan Village and Paddle Hard Brewing from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Event will feature local art, live festive jingles, jolly tastes of Grayling, Santa’s door prizes, merry cocktails (cash bar), 50/50 raffle, holiday cheer, networking, and more. Event will also include an ugly sweater/gaudiest get-up contest and prizes will be awarded. Entry fee is $5 for Chamber members and $10 for not-yet members. Train exhibit event to benefit Help Center - The Goodale residence will generate donations to benefit the Crawford County Christian Help Center during its annual Christmas train exhibit event from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3. From Grayling, take M-72 East to Industrial Drive and turn left to the railroad crossing sign. Please bring cash donations or canned goods for the Help Center.
Hanging of the Greens to be held on Friday - Get into the spirit of Christmas by making the Commission on Aging and Senior Center look festive. Everyone is invited to help with the Hanging of the Greens on Friday, Dec. 1, starting at 9:30 a.m. The event will include a cordon bleu lunch at 12 p.m. The cost of lunch is a suggested $3 donation for those 60 and over and $5 for those under 60. COA offers gift coupons for seniors - The Commission on Aging and Senior Center has many Christmas gift suggestions if you are looking for an idea for an older adult in need or for that special senior you love. Gift coupons for a hot lunch or dinner are available for $3 each for those 60 and over and $5 for those under 60. Soup coupons for any age can be purchased for $1 each. Foot care coupons to be used at the Senior Center are available for $25 each and tickets for the Crawford County Transit bus (Dial-A-Ride) can be purchased by calling the business office at 348-8215 and asking for Jackie. Moose Lodge to host Children’s Christmas Party - Grayling Moose Lodge 1162 will host a Children’s Christmas Party for kids 10 and under on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Grayling Moose Lodge is located at 7970 S. Grayling Road. The children will receive a gift from Santa and a Little Debbie snack cake and juice box plus coloring books and crayons. Senior Center offers help with Medicare - The Annual Open Enrollment period for Medicare beneficiaries is ending Dec. 7. Prescription Drug plans and Medicare Advantage plans change every year. The change can be as simple as a difference in the premium amount or be as extensive as having not as many covered medications. The Commission on Aging and Senior Center is providing free counseling services to enable beneficiaries to make the best possible decisions. A trained certified counselor will help you review your options and determine what is covered and what costs you will likely incur throughout the year. Church to host Bethlehem Christmas event - Grayling Free Methodist Church will host a Christmas event on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 4 p.m. The event will let kids and adults explore the village of Bethlehem. Guests will visit booths around the city and enjoy hands-on experiences, crafts, and snacks while learning about Jesus. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
