Senior Center to host Christmas Dinner - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center’s Community Christmas Dinner on Thursday, December 13, from 4-6 p.m. The Senior Center will be serving sliced roast beef, au gratin potatoes, Midori vegetables, cranberry Waldorf salad, and red velvet cake. The cost of the dinner is $5.50 for those under 60 and a suggested donation of $3.50 for those 60 years of age or older. Dinner is open to the public and no reservations are required. Christmas concert slated for Sunday - A free Christmas concert will be held at Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 9, at 3 p.m.
Coffee hour for veterans to be held - The Crawford County Veteran’s Service Office will be hosting a coffee hour on the second Thursday of each month. The next meeting will take place at American Legion Post #106 on Thursday, December 13, from 9-10 a.m. Coffee, tea, and doughnuts will be provided free of charge. This is an event for veterans to meet and talk with each other. It will be a social setting with no formal speeches or agenda. All veterans are welcome. Church to host Christmas Program - The Grayling Assembly of God Church invites the community to its Christmas Program at 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 16.
Veterans can get ride to VA hospital - Veterans living in Crawford, Kalkaska, Roscommon, Otsego, or Ogemaw counties can arrange to be picked up along the I-75 corridor for a ride to the VA hospital by a Disabled American Veterans van. Call the Veterans Service Office at (989) 344-3861.
American Legion Auxiliary to meet - The American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the American Legion on Tuesday, December 11. The group meets once a month on the second Tuesday of each month.
Frederic Satellite Meal to be held - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Frederic Satellite Meal on Friday, December 14, at 12 p.m. at the Frederic Township Hall. The lunch includes roasted hot turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, peas and onions, and pears. Lunch is open to the public. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3.50 for those 60 and over and a $5.50 cost for those under 60. Munson Home Health will provide blood pressure and sugar checks and Bingo will be played following the meal. Call (989) 348-7123 for a reservation. Breakfast presentation topic is seasonal disorders - The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center will host a free Munson breakfast presentation on Tuesday, December 11, at 9 a.m. for the topic “Seasonal Mental Health Disorders,” featuring Charles Hughes, Behavioral Health Counselor II from Munson Healthcare Physician Network. Learn about seasonal mental health disorders, what the signs and symptoms are, and how you are able to make the change needed to prevent or treat these issues. Breakfast includes an omelette station, hash browns, muffins, mixed fruit, juice, and coffee. The breakfast and presentation will be held at the Senior Center, 308 Lawndale Street. Christmas dinner turkeys available - The Crawford County Community Christian Help Center Food Pantry – with help from a Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund grant – will purchase Christmas dinner turkeys for its clients. A Crawford County family of two or more can get a turkey along with other Christmas dinner food by coming to the Food Pantry before Christmas and asking for it. If there is only one in the household, they can get a whole chicken and other items. Food Pantry clients can get their regular food at the same time. Families that are not clients, but would like help with their Christmas dinner, can come in just for that.
