Moose Lodge offers Santa event for kids - The Grayling Moose Lodge #1162 and Women of the Moose #827 will host a Kid’s Christmas With Santa event from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, at the lodge, located at 7920 South Grayling Road. Kids can talk with Santa and receive a gift.
 
COA to host program on DHHS assistance - Diane Howland, Eligibility Specialist from the Crawford County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), will be at the Commission on Aging (COA) and Senior Center, located at 308 Lawndale St. in Grayling, on Wednesday, Dec. 14, from 1-4 p.m. to take appointments regarding DHHS Assistance Programs. Half hour appointments are available by calling COA at (989) 348-7123. 
 
Free divorce clinic offered - The 46th Judicial Circuit Bar Association, Legal Services of Northern Michigan, and Community Mediation Services will conduct a free divorce clinic at the Crawford County Courthouse at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15.  Legal Services staff attorneys will provide classroom instruction and volunteer attorneys will be available for private consultations. Coping with loss presentation to be held - Munson Hospice and Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home will present “Glimmers of Hope,” a presentation on how to cope with loss during the holiday season, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, at the Crawford County Senior Center, located at 308 Lawndale Street. Learn more about COPD at breakfast event - The Commission on Aging (COA) and Senior Center, located at 308 Lawndale St. in Grayling, will host a Free Munson Breakfast Presentation – the topic will be Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) – at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13. COPD is used to describe lung diseases including emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and non-reversible asthma. Mary Hoppe, Coordinator of Respiratory Care at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital, will be the presenter. Call COA at (989) 348-7123 for more information. 
 
COA lunch event to be held in Frederic - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s (COA) Frederic Satellite Meal at noon on Friday, Dec. 9, at the Frederic Township Hall. The lunch will include Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, sugar snap peas, and peaches. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over and $5 for those under 60. Munson Home Health will provide blood pressure and sugar checks and bingo will be played after the meal. Call COA at (989) 348-7123 for a reservation. The Frederic Township Hall is located at 6470 Manistee in Frederic.
 
DAV offers rides for veterans - Veterans living in Crawford, Kalkaska, Roscommon, Otsego or Ogemaw County can arrange to be picked up for a ride to the VA hospital by a Disabled American Veterans van. Call Mike at (989) 387-0319 or the Veteran Service Office at (989) 344-3861.
