Lovells Satellite Meal set for Friday - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Lovells Satellite Meal on Friday, Dec. 15, at 12 p.m. at the Lovells Township Hall. The lunch includes baked ham, baked sweet potato, green beans, and applesauce. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over and a $5 cost for those under 60. Club to conduct cookie bake sale - The St. Mary’s Women’s Club will host its annual Christmas cookie bake sale on Saturday, Dec. 16, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Family Center. Enjoy delicious cookies or fill a Christmas tin for a holiday gift.
Free divorce clinic offered - The 46th Judicial Circuit Bar Association, Legal Services of Northern Michigan, and Community Mediation Services will conduct a free divorce clinic at the Crawford County Courthouse at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21. Legal Services staff attorneys will provide classroom instruction and volunteer attorneys will be available for private consultations. All forms will be supplied free to participants. Veterans can get ride to VA hospital - Veterans living in Crawford, Kalkaska, Roscommon, Otsego, or Ogemaw counties can arrange to be picked up along the I-75 corridor for a ride to the VA hospital by a Disabled American Veterans van. Senior Center to host flower arranging class - The Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center will offer a flower arranging class on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 5:30 p.m. Come and learn how to make your own Christmas flower arrangement to add to your holiday table. This class will be sponsored by Kirtland College Community Education Division and instructed by Erine Adams, who will bring all the necessary materials and supplies to help you create a fresh pine and flower arrangement. The cost of the class is $10. Working with pine can get a little sticky so bring garden gloves. To reserve your spot call (989) 348-7123. Space is limited. Cub Scouts to conduct cake auction - Local Cub Scouts will host a cake auction on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 6 p.m. at Michelson Church. Proceeds will benefit the AuSable Valley Animal Shelter.
Artisan Village to host free concert - All are invited to a Christmas extravaganza on Wednesday, Dec. 20, from 7-9 p.m. at the Artisan Village for a celebration of the season as it toasts another year of live music. Featured artists include new faces and many who have performed on the stage before. The Artisan Village is located at 219 Michigan Avenue. The concert is open to the public and there is no charge. Baby to Toddler Closet has new hours - The Crawford County Baby to Toddler Closet has new hours: first Thursday of the month, 11 a.m. to 6 pm (last customer at 5:30 p.m.) and the third Thursday of the month 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (last customer at 5:30 p.m.) If school is closed because of bad weather the Toddler Closet will probably be closed, but people can call (989) 710-2606 to find out. Do not call (989) 348-2985 because there will not be an answer. If any person in the community has any girls’ or boys’ nearly winter boots, shoes, or coats that their children have outgrown, please consider donating to the Baby to Toddler Closet.
