2017 Crawford County Relay for Life will be held Saturday

Volunteers on Saturday will add to the community’s framework and resources  to help crush cancer.
The Crawford County Relay For Life will be held on Saturday, July 8, in the Grayling City Park.
“The theme this year is ‘Manufacturing a Cure,’ which plays on all of the manufacturing done in Crawford County,” said Nancy Goodyear, an events coordinator for the Crawford County Relay for Life.
Registration begins at 10 a.m.
The opening ceremony and first lap is at 11 a.m.
Survivors and caregivers receive a free lunch at noon.
“They can also receive free manicures and massages in the Pampered Tent from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.,” Goodyear said.
The goal is to raise $37,500 to help find a cure for cancer.  The Relay for Life of Crawford is currently at $14,469 for 2017.
“That money is used in our county for the free wig program at Salon Rue, for the Look Good Feel Better program at the hospital, for free rides to appointments, and many other services offered through the American Cancer Society,” Goodyear said.
Currently, there 19 teams participating including the “manufacturing” businesses of Weyerhaeuser, Georgia-Pacific, Springs Window Fashions, and Cooper Standard.
“We also have Chemical Bank, Northland Area Federal Credit Union, Snap Fitness, Hometown Realty, Grayling Hospital’s Cancer & Infusion Center, Blarney Stone Broadcasting, Michelson Methodist church, and other family teams,” Goodyear said.
