Cancellations, Postponements, and Changes Due To The Coronavirus

Here is a list of changes, cancellations, and postponements to area events due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. We will be updating this list regularly.

Hanson Hills Recreation Area

Grayling Recreation Authority is planning to conduct the 5K portion of its annual 10K/5K on Saturday, July 25, but the 10K race is cancelled. The event starts and ends at Hanson Hills. Runners can register for the 2020 GRA 5K online at https://runsignup.com/Race/MI/Grayling/GRA5K

Crawford County Libraries

The Frederic Community Library is now open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Only 10 people are allowed inside at one time. Patrons must wear face masks and practice social distancing. Contact the Frederic Library at (989) 348-4067. The Crawford County Devereaux Memorial Library is still closed due to construction.

Wellington Farm USA

Wellington Farm USA is now open only three days per week (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). On the other days of the week, visitors can walk through the established roads but all buildings will be closed. The Quilt Show will be held on July 18-19. A Civil War Reenactment will be held on August 21-23. An Antique Car Show will be held on September 12. The Tractor Show and Jeopardy have been cancelled.

Crawford County Transportation Authority

Crawford County Transportation Authority (Dial-A-Ride) is changing its hours effective Monday, June 8, to Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Also, Dial-A-Ride will no longer be doing free groceries or prescriptions. Dial-A-Ride is available to pick up and deliver Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center Congregate Meals for $1 and Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church Monday Night Community Dinners for $1 (senior price).

Lovells Township Historical Society

The Lovells Township Historical Society has cancelled "Beaver, Beer, and Banjo" and closed the Lone Pine Schoolhouse and the Lovells Fly Fishing Museum for the 2020 season. The Lovells Township Historical Society has postponed the Historical Lodge Tour.

Black Bear Gran Fondo

The 2020 Black Bear Gran Fondo bicycle event slated for July 11 has been cancelled. 

AuSable River Canoe Marathon

The 2020 AuSable River Canoe Marathon, scheduled for July 25-26, has been cancelled. 

Spike's Challenge

The 2020 Spike's Challenge C-1 and C-2 races, slated for July 18-19, have been cancelled.

AuSable River Festival

The 2020 AuSable River Festival has been cancelled. Grayling Regional Chamber of Commerce officials said some of the smaller events conducted by various organizations during the AuSable River Festival may still be conducted by those groups; however, the Chamber of Commerce confirmed that the “HUP Race, Kids Day, Parade, Arts and Crafts Show, Food Court, Lil Paddler Play Zone, Car Show, Beer Tent, and Main Stage are all cancelled.”

Grayling Regional Chamber of Commerce

The Business Expo, after initially being rescheduled to May 19, has now been cancelled. The Grayling Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing has been rescheduled from June 5 to August 28. 

AuSable Valley Animal Shelter

The Animal Shelter's annual golf outing has been cancelled. The shelter is "conducting virtual visits and no-contact adoptions" but its facility is still closed to the public.

Kirtland Community College

Kirtland is closed to public visitors through July 31. Kirtland re-opened for in-person classes on Monday, June 8. Students have to wear face coverings. Fall semester begins on August 24.

Crawford County Commission on Aging

Activities, events, classes, and trips suspended until further notice. Congregate meals will continue to be offered Monday through Friday on a curbside take-out basis from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lunch and dinner, as well as weekend meals, can be picked up at that time. Call the COA at (989) 348-7123 to order takeout meals. Meals on Wheels will continue to be delivered on an alternative schedule. In-home services will continue. Telephone reassurance calls will continue. 

Crawford County Community Christian Help Center

The Crawford County Community Christian Help Center's food pantry is now back to normal hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Crawford County Veteran's Service Office

The Coffee Hour slated for the second Thursday of each month is cancelled until further notice.
