In an act of generosity and loving memory, donations were made to the Grayling Elementary School in the name of Mrs. Jane Larson, the late former first grade teacher at the GES for 22.5 years.
The donations came in the form of 24 backpacks filled with school supplies for the younger students and 24 backpacks filled with supplies filled with supplies for older Elementary students, 12 pairs of girls and boys snow boots, 20 coats for girls and boys, along with $100 worth of underclothes for accident replacements. Backpacks will be distributed based on need amongst students. Other supplies will be donated as the need arises.
The donations have been made possible by Mrs. Larson’s husband; Jerry Larson, and their two daughters Angela Larson Trager and Chris Sandy. Donations came in from across the United states, according to the Larson family.
“These donations will go a long way in helping the students and families of GES. The truth is, many of our residents struggle to pay their bills, let alone put food on the table or purchase winter gear. It is with great thanks that the Larson family donated items in honor of their mother,” stated Samantha Rogers, RN, BSN, CASD School Nurse.
The GES Resource Center/Food Pantry is located within the GES. Anyone whose child attends GES is able to utilize this resource. A form can be found online at https://www.casdk12.net/schools/grayling-elementary-school/resource-cent.... Along with the form to utilize the food pantry, families are welcome to communicate with GES staff if items such as clothes, shoes, boots, coat, snow pants, hats or gloves are needed, according to Rogers.
