The Grayling Promotional Association is scheduled to continue the 2020 annual Festival of Trees fundraiser. As with years past, the Festival of Trees will take place in the Grayling Mini Mall on November 13 to November 28. Raffle tickets can be purchased Monday through Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday noon to 3 p.m. at the Grayling Mini Mall. Masks are required to purchase tickets.
The public is invited to come see the decorated trees and purchase raffle tickets to win their favorite tree. The roster has been filled this year with 60 businesses decorating trees and 30 holiday gift baskets. In the past the Grayling Mini Mall has been filled with over 50 decorated Christmas trees and baskets that were raffled off to lucky citizens.
This year, in an effort to help with social distancing due to COVID-19, the GPA will be announcing winners on local radio station WQON The Q100 at 100.3 FM on November 29 at noon. The GPA will also be hosting a Facebook Live event where they plan to show the trees and announce winners on November 29.
The GPA will also be hosting the Barely Used Christmas Store, where gently used holiday items can be purchased and all proceeds will go towards the city of Grayling, according to Gail Swope, Festival of Trees organizer.
Those who wish to attend the event in person are asked to follow social distancing and wear a face mask or covering. Guests will be admitted into the building in groups to help with social distancing and the GPA is hoping to provide a heating station during wait times.
The raffle tickets will be the same price as all previous years: two dollars for one raffle ticket or six dollars for 10 tickets.
