Bradley Stephan

Bradley Roy Stephan, 82, passed away in an automobile accident on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, near Vassar, Michigan.
Brad was born March 16, 1935, in Grayling, Michigan, to the late Alva B. and Ellen F. (Wolcott) Stephan.
He graduated from Grayling High School in 1953, and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in speech and teaching certification from the University of Michigan in 1960 and a master’s degree in special education from Eastern Michigan University in 1969.  He retired from the Davison Public School System as a speech therapist after 30+ years of service.  In retirement, Brad divided his time between California and Michigan.
Brad was an avid traveler.  He had visited every state capital and enjoyed a vacation in Italy with his daughters.  He was creative and enjoyed making pottery, music, oil painting, and remodeling houses.  He gave piano lessons for many years, was a church organist, and remodeled two homes.
He is fondly remembered as an engaged, fun-loving, brave, strong, generous, spiritual, and humble man.  And for his homemade chocolate-peanut butter fudge.
Brad is survived by his children, Stephanie (Joseph) Keays (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), Alesa (Rob Cronkright) Stephan (Vassar, Mich.) and Craig Stephan; six grandchildren, Megan, Nathan, Zachary, Cooper, Sadaya, and Aella; one step-daughter, Neema Matungwa (Vassar, Mich.); a step-grandson, Nova; one sister, Kay (Dennis) Dixon (Comstock Park, Mich.); two step-brothers, Robert (Evie) Stephan (Grayling, Mich.) and Lawrence (Linda) Stephan (Grayling, Mich.); two step-sisters, Zoe (John) Horcha (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and Janet (Michael) Gorman (Grayling, Mich.); two sisters-in-law, Ann Stephan (Boise, Idaho) and Charlotte Stephan Gillen (Southgate, Mich.); his former wife and mother of his children, Sandra (Athanas) Manyama (Vassar, Mich.); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
