Burdette L. Park
Burdette L. (Jappy) Park, age 75, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at his residence in Prudenville, with his wife at his side after a short battle with cancer.
He was born in Pioneer Township in Missaukee County to Burdette Sr. and Carrie (Perrigo) Park.
He worked as a logger for many years and his love for working with wood stemmed from building several log cabins with his dad, including one the family enjoyed together.
He married his second wife, Patricia, at a ceremony on the Little Cannon Creek in 1986, which was the opening day of Trout season.
He started working for Milan Supply in Grayling a year later.
Jappy (Joe) worked there for 16 years before retiring.
Jappy loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was also known for his carved wooden fish that he often sold at local flea markets and craft shows.
He loved family gatherings, especially when he could do a fish fry with his own catch.
Everyone loved to hear him tell stories of his outdoor adventures, almost as much as he loved to tell them.
He is survived by his wife Patricia M. (Lietke) Park; children: Valerie (Harold) Marsh of Lansing, MI, Rodney (Stephanie) Park of Merritt, MI, Angela (Tim) Cargill of Manton Mi, and Shawn Park of Lake, City, MI.
Also surviving are his step-children Tamara (George) Eldred of Houghton Lake, MI; Sandra (Terry) Heckerthorn of Mattawan, MI, and Daniel (David) May of Bellaire, MI.
He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Burdette and Carrie Park.
There will be a celebration of life in the spring.
Arrangements were entrusted to Sisson Funeral Home.
