Carol Nancy Mikesell Klein, 84, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at her home in Houston Texas surrounded by her family.
Carol was born February 12, 1937 in Grayling, Michigan to Walter and Polly Mikesell. She grew up with her parents, her sister, Mickey and her childhood friend, Mary Jane, on the Au Sable River in Northern Michigan. She attended Grayling High School, where a strange, handsome boy approached her in study hall after raising his book to ask permission to visit with her. William Richard Klein became her high school sweetheart.
Carol earned a Secretarial Certificate from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She worked as the secretary of the Superintendent of Schools in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, eventually becoming Office Manager.
Carol married Richard on September 14, 1956 in Grayling, Michigan. Together, they raised four children. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, sewing, and caring for her family.
Carol is survived by her husband, William Richard Klein; her sister, Mickey M. Strong of Lachine, Michigan; four children, Kent Klein and wife Heather of Roanoke, Virginia, Leslie Beltz and husband Timothy of Castle Rock, Colorado, Craig Klein and wife Teri of Elgin, Texas and Joel Klein and wife Christina of Cypress, Texas; ten grandchildren, Amber, Aubrie, Joslyn, Morgan, Toni, Tyler, Carol Ann, Parker, Justin and Dallas; thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Klein Funeral Home of Klein, Texas oversees arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mercer Botanical Gardens in Humble, Texas where she frequently spent time walking through the gardens with her husband, children, and grandchildren enjoying nature.
