Mrs. Gwendolyn J. Sievert, age 92, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen House. She was born on March 7, 1929 in Saginaw, Michigan to Henry and Beatrice Rose (Cassidy) Ahman.
She was a past member of the Michelson Memorial UMC in Grayling, Michigan and was currently attending St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake.
Gwendolyn and her husband built their own house in Saginaw. She provided piano lessons for many years. As a member of the Saginaw Piano Teachers’ Forum, she served as Secretary and President.
She received an A.S. at Delta College. Her B.S. and M.A. degrees in Education were from Central Michigan University.
Gwendolyn taught business at Saginaw Valley College, Delta College, St. Mary’s High School (Saginaw), Merrill High School, and did substitute teaching.
Mrs. Sievert was an avid reader with a passion for travel, oil painting, writing, music, card playing, dancing, and especially making gourd dolls.
Above all else, Gwendolyn loved her family and spending time at their cottage near Lake Margrethe. Gwen also loved treasured old friends and new friends met in the past seven years at her home in Liberty Woods Co-Op.

Gwendolyn had been a member of many volunteer organizations in Michigan, North Carolina, and Florida. She won several awards, including a 1st place in the State of North Carolina for a doll that she made.
Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Carl R. Sievert on August 19, 2011. Survivors include three children, James (Julie) Sievert, Linda (Tom) Olson, and Amy Suggs; five grandchildren, Jeffrey (Erica) Suggs II, Emily (John) Dumas, Devin Olson, Jared (Paula) Olson and Scott (Acia) Locey-Christiansen; four great- grandchildren, Oliver Locey-Christiansen, Vivian and Camille Dumas, and Mackenzie Olson.
A Celebration of Gwendolyn’s Life will be announced at a later date.
