Jacquelyn Church, age 83, of Roscommon, died on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at home in the presence and comfort of her family.
Jackie was born June 10, 1937 in Brooklyn, Michigan the daughter of Lyle and Donna (Case) Ford. She grew up on a small farm near Brooklyn, Michigan in the “Irish Hills” area. As a youngster, she was a member of 4-H.
Jackie married C. David Church on February 6, 1958 in Brooklyn, Michigan.
Jackie retired from MSU in 1995, having served as an administrative assistant in several departments, finishing her career in Fisheries and Wildlife.
Jackie enjoyed music. She played piano, guitar, and clarinet at various times in her life and was a big fan of the MSU Marching Band.
Jackie was a long-time Girl Scout Troop Leader in Lansing. She ran many 5-K races throughout the state.
She was also a great dog lover.
Jackie was a talented maker of many beautiful quilts. She had the ability to expertly sew and knit apparel and accessories for gifts.
Jackie enjoyed camping, especially on the shores of Lake Superior and going canoeing among the loons on Pickerel Lake.
Jackie will be remembered for being a truly loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was extremely supportive and accepting in nature, with her sympathetic listening skills, and this was always very much appreciated by family and friends.
Jackie will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, C. David; daughters, Judy (Kirk) Meiklejohn and Jeanne Brown; son, David (Barbara) Church; grandchildren; Danny, Jessica, Kelley, Shannon, Cameron, Erynn; great-grandchildren, Calvin, Conrad, Ellison; sister, Margie (Gordon) Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jackie is preceded in death by her parents.
Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Life Service, to be determined at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
