John James Mastroeni
John James Mastroeni, 89, of Grayling, passed away October 10, 2019. John was the youngest of eight siblings to the Mastroeni family born July 3, 1930 in Caspian (U.P.), Michigan to the late Giovanni and Ann Mastroeni.
John was a 1949 graduate of Stambaugh High School in Iron County and enjoyed all sports during school years and set pins at the local bowling alley.
John joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950, serving most of his time in Japan.
John married Grace Dwelly and is survived by his five children, Jerry Mastroeni (Nancy), Geno Mastroeni (Sandra Moore), Roxanne Durham, Brian Mastroeni (Debbie) and Rhonda Portugal; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
John retired from General Motors as a Forman in the Parts Department and recognized for his exemplary service of 31 years. Upon retirement, John moved to Higgins Lake to manage his sons (Geno) Good Times Party Store in Higgins Lake and resided there until moving to Grayling in 2014.
John was truly an amazing man that put so much passion and love into every aspect of his life. His charm and sense of humor brought a positive energy to every occasion. John remained a loyal sports fan and dedicated his time to the Grayling and Houghton Lake bowling teams and local sporting events.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the home of Geno and Sandra Mastroeni at 4109 E. Beaver Island Rd., Grayling.
