Richard “Dick” Slater
Richard “Dick” Slater, 89 of Roscommon, Michigan, passed away February 4, 2019.
Born St John’s, Michigan, January 1, 1930.
Richard was a long-time resident of Grayling, moving here with family from down below in 1963.
Veteran of US Navy and served during Korean Conflict.
Storyteller who published many short stories.
Master bowhunter who often shared deer hunting stories with Fred Bear.
Spouse Dorothy Slater (deceased) was a teacher in Grayling school system. Later in life Richard found love again and married Elaine McKie (deceased).
Survived by sons Alan of Grand Rapids, Dr. Douglas of Frederic, William of Phoenix, AZ, and John of Grayling, 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grand daughter.
