Robert Lee (Bob) Welch
Robert Lee (Bob) Welch, 81, of Frederic, Michigan, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 27, 2018.
Bob was born in Frederic on August 14, 1937, to Kendall Edward Welch and Jenny Lee Raymond Welch.
While growing up, most of Bob’s childhood and adolescence was spent in and around Crawford County, except for the four years he spent in Germany serving his country with the U.S. Army.
On March 30, 1957, Bob married the woman who was to be the “love of his life”, Marguerite “Marge” Williams, and together they raised their five children.
In 1988, Bob retired from Milliken’s Excavating in Grayling and relocated to Port Richey, Florida, where he and Marge spent the next 35 years, until Marge’s death on December 3, 2014. After which, Bob moved back to Frederic, so he could be near his children and grandchildren, and do what he enjoyed most, spending time with family and friends.
Bob is survived by his children, Kendall Lee (Michele) of Frederic, Duane Richard of Frederic, Siss Isenhauer of Frederic and Tracey Dean of New York; grandchildren, Ike, Kristi and Travis; great-grandchildren, Derek, Erin, Eli and Rylie; brother, Mike Jungman (Chris); sisters, Lana Cronk (Bill) and Shelly Pinkleman; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Bob was preceeded in death by two brothers, Dean (Kay) and Donald James. Also preceeded in death by his son. Robert (Donnie) James.
On September 30, 2018 a Celebration of Life was held in Bob’s honor at the Grayling Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE) where he had been a lifelong member.
Memorial contributions in Bob’s honor may be made to the Grayling FOE, either through the Nelson Funeral Home in Gaylord or to the Eagle’s Club in Grayling.
