Cross country team posts two top 10 finishes at Roscommon meet
Grayling High School’s cross country program posted two top 10 individual finishes during Wednesday’s meet at Roscommon High School.
In the girls’ race, Roscommon took three of the top four spots, and Ogemaw Heights had three of the top six fastest times. The Bucks won the meet and the Falcons took second. Pine River took third, Grayling was fourth, and Bellaire placed fifth.
For Grayling, junior Katelyn Moore took 10th place with a time of 23:22.15. Sarah Rakoczy, a senior, finished 13th with a time of 24:14.88. Senior Cecelia Cvitkovich was 15th with a time of 24:45.88. Freshmen Sophia Rakoczy and Gabrielle Helinski placed 21st (26:15.69) and 31st (28:00.50), respectively. Sophomore Robin Long finished 33rd (28:45.78).
In the boys’ competition, Roscommon runners placed first, third, and fifth. Pine River runners finished second and fourth. Roscommon won the meet and Pine River finished second. Ogemaw Heights placed third and McBain was fourth.
Caden Arredondo, a senior for Grayling, took sixth place with a time of 18:54.00. Junior Klay Baker finished 26th with a time of 21:50.25. Jeffery Kennedy, a sophomore, placed 39th (24:24.03). Sophomore Anthony McLean finished 50th (28:42.58).
Wednesday’s meet at Roscommon also featured middle school cross country races, and Grayling posted four top 10 finishes (two boys, two girls), including one first place overall finish.
For the Vikings, in the boys’ race, Drew Moore took first place with a time of 12:02.50. Teague Hartman finished seventh (13:53.34). Jacob Marshall was 23rd (15:59.84) and Sam Patterson took 27th (16:14.59).
In the girls’ competition, Tierney Hartman finished fourth for Grayling with a time of 15:00.59. Olivia Duba placed ninth (17:10.08) and Jocelyn Millikin was 15th (18:10.21). Karlie Smith was 20th (20:26.30), Adrianna Soria was 21st (20:27.66), and Alison Helinski was 23rd (21:26.41).
The Vikings will compete in the Ellsworth Invitational on Saturday, September 14.
