Girls basketball team ends year with playoff loss vs. Ogemaw Heights

The varsity girls basketball team from Grayling High School ended its 2017-2018 season with a 44-12 loss vs. the Falcons of West Branch Ogemaw Heights on Wednesday during the semifinal round of the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s District 62-B tournament. Standish Sterling Central hosted the contest.
The Falcons led 7-1 at the end of the first period. At halftime, Ogemaw Heights had an 18-3 advantage. The Falcons led 38-6 going into the last eight minutes of regulation. WBOH won 44-12.
Grayling scored its 12 points with one free throw from Emma Mertes, a put-back by Esabella Powers, one free throw from Vanessa Nielson, two jump shots by Isabel Duba, a three-pointer by Mertes, and one free throw from Duba.
According to the MHSAA, Ogemaw Heights defeated Gladwin 45-29 in the district championship game on Friday night.
