Grayling maintains double digit lead after 10-0 2nd quarter run, wins 50-31

The Grayling Vikings – during a varsity boys basketball game vs. East Jordan – built a double digit lead in the second quarter with a 10-0 run, and they maintained it for the rest of the contest, defeating the visiting Red Devils by a final score of 50-31 on Tuesday night.
Grayling scored seven unanswered points to start the game with a three-pointer by Ryan Anderson, a three-point play by Anderson, and one free throw from Eli Jackson.
East Jordan hit two free throws. Grayling scored on an inside shot by Conner Brill. The Red Devils scored five unanswered points with two free throws and a three-pointer.
The Vikings led 9-7 with 3:51 left in the first period.
East Jordan did not score again in the period. Grayling scored four points with a jumper by Dylan Cragg and a lay-up by Nick Hunter.
Grayling took a 13-7 advantage into the second quarter.
The Red Devils hit a triple early in the second period. The Vikings responded with a three-pointer by Cragg. East Jordan hit a jump shot. The Red Devils made one of two at the free throw line.
Grayling, with 4:48 left in the first half, led by three, 16-13.
The Vikings scored 10 unanswered points with a put-back by Hunter, a drive by Anderson, two lay-ups by Hunter, and a short jumper by Brill. Grayling led 26-13.
East Jordan scored. Grayling scored two with an inside shot by Brill. The Red Devils scored the last basket of the second period.
At halftime, the score was Grayling 28, East Jordan 17.
The Vikings scored the first four points of the third period with two drives by Anderson. East Jordan scored. Grayling got four more points with a jumper by Mitchell Kuziel and a lay-up by Anderson. The Red Devils hit a jump shot. Anderson made two free throws for GHS. East Jordan made a three-pointer. Anderson made a lay-up for the Vikings following a steal.
Grayling had a 40-24 lead going into the final eight minutes of regulation.
The Vikings outscored the Red Devils 10-7 during the fourth quarter.
Grayling scored its 10 points down the stretch with a jumper by Anderson, a put-back by Brill, a drive by Cragg, a jump shot by Garrett Reilly, and two free throws from Jackson.
The Vikings won 50-31.
Anderson finished the game with 20 points. Brill and Hunter each had eight points. Cragg had seven points.
Grayling will play at Kalkaska on Friday, February 15.
