Bobbie Jo Benson and Jazlyn Jamison won by default for the Vikings at #4 doubles.
“The tie could have tipped on our favor with a victory in one of the two tie breakers,” Coach Mark Sloan said.
Thursday’s meet was Grayling’s first of the season, and the first one in its new facility at the school. (Tuesday’s scheduled home meet vs. East Jordan was postponed due to weather conditions.)
Coach Sloan said the new courts “have nice smooth, vibrant surfaces and are wonderful to play on.”
The Vikings will play at Harbor Springs on Thursday, April 20.
“I feel pretty good about where we are after our first match. We have some things to work on and should make additional progress each week,” Coach Sloan said.
Coach Sloan said Grayling is starting a “new community tennis program for kids 10 and under” and “registration information was sent out with elementary school kids” recently.
“Our new group is called the AuSable Area Community Tennis Association,” Coach Sloan said. “It will be great to have some programming in place that will expose youth in our area to tennis.”
