Vikings post seven top 10 finishes at Alma College meet
The varsity track and field team from Grayling High School made the trip to Alma College on Saturday for the annual Scottie Invitational, and the Vikings had several solid performances, including seven top 10 placements, several personal bests, and one new school record.
It was a sizeable meet with schools divided into four different divisions; the Vikings were in Division 2. Grayling’s division also included athletes from Shepherd, Big Rapids, Kingsley, Alma, Fremont, Corunna, Remus Chippewa Hills, and Benzie Central. More than 2,100 athletes competed in the four divisions overall.

Carr’s throw in the discus was a new GHS record.
“We had a great showing this weekend,” Coach Justin Andre said. “We had personal records in a lot of our events, and Ellie Carr set a new school record in the discus with a throw of 97 feet.”
“We look forward to fine tuning our events in order to hopefully prepare our athletes to peak at regionals,” Coach Andre said.
The regional meet for Grayling will be held at Clare High School on Friday, May 19.
