The varsity girls volleyball team from Grayling High School defeated Kalkaska but lost to McBain during a three-team meet hosted by the Vikings on Thursday night.
First, Grayling battled the McBain Ramblers. It was a best of three series. McBain won 25-17, 25-16.
The Vikings won 25-7 vs. the Kalkaska Blazers in game one of a best of three series. In game two, Grayling won 25-14, clinching a 2-0 series victory.
“A much needed win,” Coach Tim Zigila said.
“I thought we played well against McBain. They’re ranked number nine in Class C right now. I thought we did some nice things all the way around against McBain,” Coach Zigila said.
“Against Kalkaska I thought the girls put together the most complete game they’ve played all season,” Coach Zigila said. “Everybody contributed.”
“Mallory (Hatfield) set the ball real well tonight. We passed well all night. Madi Longendyke played well and Moff (Allie Moffit) hit the ball real well. (Nicole) Oppermann has been consistent all year,” Coach Zigila said.
The Vikings will play at Charlevoix on Thursday, Sept. 14.
