Frederic Music Festival set for June 23-24
The 2023 Frederic Music Festival will be held on Friday, June 23, and Saturday, June 24, at the new Eagle Park pavilion (next to the Frederic Township office). Friday will feature a ribbon cutting ceremony for the pavilion at 3:30 p.m. followed by playing of the national anthem. Bands are slated to play from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday. On Saturday, performances are scheduled for  2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Cost for a bracelet to attend the two-day event is $20. Kids can attend for no cost but children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Bicycles and dogs are not allowed in the venue. Pageant to be held during River Festival 
The Miss AuSable River Festival Endowment program is a scholarship-focused pageant intended to empower young women in Crawford County. The pageant and crowning of the new titleholder will take place on Saturday, July 29, from 11-12:30 p.m. on the Main Stage at Michigan Avenue & Peninsular in downtown Grayling during the AuSable River Festival. An interest meeting is going to be held on June 24 at Paddle Hard Yard from 9 to 10 a.m. Potential candidates and their parents/guardians should plan to attend to receive paperwork and learn more information about competing. Contestants will be adjudicated in various facets, including community serve & engagement, private interview, on stage presentation, and poise & presence. The court will be adjudicated by secret panels throughout the week of the AuSable River Festival and during activities with the AuSable River Canoe Marathon, in a private interview, and in an on-stage competition. Eligible contestants include young women who live, work, or go to school in Crawford County who will be between the ages of 15-20 at the time of Labor Day of 2023. Medicare presentation offered
A presentation that will help demystify the issues surrounding Medicare will be offered on Wednesday, June 28, at 10 a.m. at the Crawford County Commission on Aging. Tammy Findlay, Advocacy & Resource Coordinator, will discuss the various parts of Medicare including what is covered or not covered, Medicare Supplement and Prescription Drug Plans, and how Medicare recipients who have low income can get assistance paying for Prescription Drug Plans and the Medicare Part B premium. Neighborhood Connect event to be held at GHS
Neighborhood Connect – a free event that will feature products and services from various community agencies aimed at helping residents of Crawford County and improving health – will be held on June 22 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Grayling High School (1135 North Old US 27). Event will include a food truck, a balloon artist, face painting, household supplies, diapers/wipes for those who qualify, and car seat safety checks. Registration is required; on-site registration will be available on June 22.
 
Wellington Farm to host Sticky Buns Day
Wellington Farm USA (6944 S. Military Road) will host Sticky Buns Day on Saturday, June 24. The event will take place in Jenney’s Summer Kitchen which is located in the center of the museum’s 60-acre park. Sticky buns will be made from scratch the old fashioned way and baked in the kitchen’s wood stove, just the way it was done in 1932, the year depicted by the museum. Sticky Buns are not offered for sale at the farm but if you are quick enough, you might be able to snitch a taste of one from the cooling plate on the table.
