Shop Grayling First discount cards available
Shop Grayling First discount cards have been printed and are now currently available for purchase. The discount cards are $20 each, available for use from June 1, 2023 through May 31, 2024. The discount card gives cardholders access to hundreds of dollars in savings and benefits at businesses in the Grayling area. Cards can be purchased by contacting a member of the Grayling Promotional Association, or at one of the following: Grayling Regional Chamber of Commerce, Grayling Eagles, North Country Corner, Tip’n the Mitten, MI Salon, and World of Floors.
Senior Center seeks historical material
An organizational meeting to recruit individuals who have a history and knowledge of the Commission on Aging and Senior Center will be held on Friday, July 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Senior Center. This new team will assist the Senior Center staff in planning the commemorative activities and historical records displays for the Commission On Aging’s 50th anniversary. This team’s collaborations will be featured in the Grand Opening of the new Senior Center along with photos, events, and archiving of historical documents so they can be viewed by the public both electronically and in print. COA is seeking input from anyone who has photos, news clippings, or a great story to share. The Memorabilia and History Team will be led by Senior Center Manager Maze Stephan. Mindfulness class offered
Mindfulness Class: Begin With A Breath will be held at the Senior Center on Wednesday, July 12, from 10-11 a.m. Class teaches and encourages techniques to “Stress Less” through the use of mindfulness self-care skills to help one feel better and enjoy life more. Research has shown that practicing mindfulness is effective in reducing stress-related symptoms such as worry, depression, and physical tension, and may be helpful in managing chronic conditions such as cardiac disease and diabetes. Mindfulness class participants will: experience the benefits of mindfulness, review how stress affects the brain, learn what research says about the emotional and physical benefits of mindfulness, and practice mindful breathing and movement as ways to reduce stress.
