A recent diesel spill at Camp Grayling is currently in the final stages of clean-up, according to Camp Grayling Environmental Manager John W. Hunt, and the camp is now awaiting a few final test results from the Department of Environmental (DEQ). 
The Sears store, located on M72 West, just west of Grayling came under new ownership and management as of February 1. Randy and Jolee Crocker, also owners of the Sears store in West Branch for over three years, are the new owners.
Obstetrics nurse Deb Weaver has been recognized by Mercy Health Services North as part of the Friends for Life staff recognition program. Weaver was recognized for “the vital role she has demonstrated in providing excellent health care services to our patients,” said Diane Friedriechsen, Director of Community Relations for Mercy.  
The Bear’s Bowmen hosted the Terry Barr Memorial Archery Shoot on Sunday, March 14, at Hanson Hills. the event was an indoor, 3-D competition that featured numerous targets, including deer, bear, boar, turkey and bobcat.
A few of the smaller targets were put on moving or rotating supports, which created targets in motion, an added challenge for the participating archers. 
The Grayling City Council held a special meeting on Monday, March 15, in order to discuss various aspects of a Downtown Development Authority (DDA). The meeting was intended primarily to serve as a forum for council members and anyone interested in the DDA formation process to talk about some of the things a DDA  could bring to Grayling.
Two Grayling High School wrestlers, Matt Evon and Victor CdeBaca, headed to the Joe Louis Arena on Thursday, March 11, to take part in the MHSAA State Wrestling Tournament. Evon ended up taking second place in his weight division (103 pounds), after losing the championship to a wrestler from Williamston.

It was announced by Chamber Manager Mike Steele that on May 1-2, Grayling and Crawford County will host the “Lancia 20-stages” performance road rally, one of a series of 12 nationwide rallies.
Sheriff’s deputies have more radios thanks to a fund-raising campaign. These radios will help them do their job more effectively.

March 20, 1953 
Pat and Margie Harwood moved from Bay City last Thursday and for a time will be living in with the latters’ mother Mrs. Ruth Caid. Pat has leased the Caid Grocery Store and is now making preparation to open up in a short time. Both these young folks are well known in Lovells and the surrounding vicinity.

The saw mill stopped very suddenly in Lovells Friday morning when the engine broke.
A. J. Silwell has sold his livery stable to Henry Bates.
