Viking of the Week Peter Mead.  Pete has been the 1st place pole vaulter for GHS since track was reinstated 4 years ago.  This past week, he took 1st against both opponents in pole vault, and took a 1st in the 1600 meter run.  Pete also ran a leg on the winning 3200 meter relay team.

Dean Bovee has received a graduate assistant’s job at the U of M where she will be working on her Masters of Library Science degree.
Thirty-nine people, aged 4 to 78, worked for three hours on roads around Lovells Saturday and picked up 125 large garbage bags of rubbish, 90% of which was disposable cans and bottles.  The annual cleanup was sponsored by the Lovells Hook and Trigger Club.

Mrs. Harold MacNeven returned home last week after spending some time in Florida and Detroit.
Les Hunter, Joe Bleiski and Walter SanCartier of Hunter’s AuSable Dairy attended a sales talk meeting and dinner of the Dairyland Creamery Distributors of Valley Lee milk at the Hotel Doherty in Clare on April 21.

Alfred Herman has been promoted to district manager of the Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Co., headquarted in South Bend, Indiana.
For the pleasure of her little son, alfred, Mrs. Carl Hanson entertained 16 tots in honor of his fifth birthday.
