John Frank Sojka

John Frank Sojka, age 99, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, October 22, 2020, in Simsbury, Connecticut in the presence of his loving wife Barbara Sojka.
John was born on February 4, 1921, in Turners Falls, Massachusetts. He was one of 9 siblings. John, as well as his 5 brothers, served in WWII. John served in the Navy. He attended Central Michigan and Columbia University. While in Michigan he met Barbara and developed a love of northern Michigan.
Barbara and John celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on October 6th of this year.
He worked at Chrysler as an engineer for 19 years and then moved to Grayling, Michigan, and owned and operated a local service station. He was passionate about his community and served in the Grayling Rotary for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; three children; Paul (Karole) Sojka, Christopher (Marci) Sojka, Tanya (Randall) Stephens; seven grandchildren, Brad Kuske (Nicole Brickner), Ellen (Chris) Needham, Ann Sojka (Thomas Bunting), Phillip (Abigail) Sojka, Lauren Stephens-Valentin (Tom), Sydney Kuske, Marissa Stephens; and three great grandchildren, Brianna Kuske, Miriam and Jasper Needham.
