Rita Anne Jackson, 92, of Lovells Township, passed away on April 5, 2017.
She was born on June 5, 1924, in New York City, New York, to the late William and Alice (Kehor) Post.
She was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy as a Pharmacist's Mate First Class in August of 1946.
Rita married Charles L. Jackson on September 14, 1947, in Marshall, Indiana, in the garden of her future in-laws. The two were married for 61 years before he preceded her in death in 2008.
Rita, too, was an educator. She taught Special Education and children with Reading Disabilities.
She and her husband moved to Lovells when he retired in 1990. They were both very active in their community, both philanthropically and in service. Rita became widely known for her Mitten Christmas Tree each year at the Lovells library.
Loving mother to Lynne-Marie (Harold Smith) Jackson, and Eric C. (Alison) Jackson. Loving grandmother to Danielle Ann and Christopher Louis Jackson.
Preceded in death by her son, Laurence (Larry) Jackson.
Military Honors and interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan, on Friday, May 5, 2017, at 11:30 a.m.
