Viola B. Cooper of Clio, age 86, went home to heaven on August 16, 2020.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Private funeral services will be held on Friday with Burial in Newton Cemetery. Pastor Ed Emmerling officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for future designation.
Viola was born February 4, 1934 in Grayling, Michigan to the late Stanley and Iva (Howse) Lazarowicz. She graduated from Grayling High School and attended church every week growing up. Viola married William Cooper on January 14, 1956. When William passed in 1969, she was the rock for her 4 children. Everyday she lived to make them happy and would take them up north every weekend and as a loving widowed mother, was still able to get them their Dilly ice cream bars.
Viola was truly an angel on earth, lived a strong life, and had a pure heart of gold. She worked full time as a housekeeper at the Bavarian Haus Motel for 32 years before retiring in 2007.
Viola would light up when she saw her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved to brag about them to anyone who would listen, some might say they were her second wind. She was the grandma that spoiled the kids rotten, but in her words “not spoiled, loved.”
Viola lived a simple life and was happy by herself. All she needed was her soap operas, Pepsi, and a good word search. However, she enjoyed a good bingo game or trip to the casino. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are loving children, Cindy (Lon) Severn, Carl Cooper, and Connie (Rick) Aldrich; 5 grandchildren she was very proud of, Lonnie Jr., Sabrina, Stuart, Trisha, and Diamond; 2 great-granddaughters she was blessed with, Lauren, and Lindsey. Viola was also preceded in death by son, Mark Cooper; siblings, Kenneth Lazarowicz, and Clara Jekel.
